It had been a long hot July day and i was exhausted from a 12 hour shift. I walked like a zombie to my car and was about to crawl in when i noticed the car parked next to it. My eyes nearly burst out of thier sockets when Zack opened the car door and stepped up to me his full 6ft frame shadowing my measly 5ft 2in. He looked powerful today in a fitted grey suit and his black hair gelled to one side. I hardly recognised him from the other night when he looked like a boy so youthful in appearance.
'We need to talk' he said looking down at me due to our height difference.
'I'm sorry' i spat out ' i mean thank you....for yesterday' i clarified after he made no response.
His face softened and he stepped back noticing my discomfort
'Are you okay?'he questioned concern pouring out his eyes
'Fine yea i just went to get some fresh air' i lied ' and then well you know' i looked down ' sorry i fell asleep you didnt have to carry me you could have just woken me up' i mumbled too embarrased to make eye contact
'You were having a hard time because of me its the least i could do'
I was just about to reply when i noticed the because of me bit
'What do you mean because of you? Its your dads idea right? How's that your fault?
'Sharp as ever' he almost whispered to himself, he took a deep breath in and what he said next made me lose all strength in my legs. I slid down to the floor as his words went round my mind 'It's my fault, i suggested to dad we should get married'...

He put out his hand for me to get up but I swatted it away. Why it made no sense why was he doing this. Why was everyone going along with it. I held on to the side of the car and opened the door sliding in. He said nothing but didn't move either. He didn't know me I wasn't the same teenager who helped him with his math homework, I had changed when the world had taken from me I gave up being nice to the world. I switched the car on and reved the engine, he still didn't budge so I did what I had to I drove right over his foot and out that car park so fast he was nothing but a blur in my rear view mirror.

When I opened the front door of my house it was dark and quiet, I figured dad and Lizetta must have gone to bed already. I on the other hand was wide awake, the fatigue of the day had left me as soon as I had heard Zacks confession. His words played on my mind and I regretted not listening to his explanation. I slithered up the stairs towards the bathroom figuring a long hot shower would relax me. I got as far as dad's room, peering in I saw him sound asleep his face almost smiled at me and I longed to wake him up and hug him , I missed him. Zack was right I couldn't run from this I had to learn to deal with what was happening so I resolved to speak to dad at breakfast if he didn't rush off again.

That night I dreamt of mum, the same reoccurring dream, she would be sat up in bed and reach out to me but I would never be able to reach her no matter how hard I tried. Eventually i would get further and further from her until I could barely see her tiny frame and them I'd fall as if from the sky. Only this time just before I awoke in my usual panic I was sure I heard someone call my name 'Maya' whispered a faint echo in the darkness. I could have sworn it was Zacks voice.
