(Lizetta POV)
'Luke let me in, look the clinic rang me and you never turned up today'
I banged on my younger brothers apartment door. I didn't want to know how he'd managed to live in this swanky apartment complex. Something illegal I'm sure.
'Lukas Alexander Whitworth, you open this door right now or I'll call the police and tell them there's a drug ring inside' I threatened him. It worked I heard the door unbolting and then it swung open revealing my mess of a brother. His dark brown hair was disheveled and his blue eyes had no spark. My beautiful baby brother when would the nightmare of that day leave you.
'Are you high' I inquired as I barged in
'Hi to you too sis he mumbled followed by a dry laugh
'Why did you not go in today?'
'Didn't feel like it'
'You know it's court mandated, you have to go whether you feel like it or not otherwise you'll end up back in prison'
He looked at me expressionless
'Is that what you want, to back inside?'
'I dunno' he managed before he sat on the sofa and zoned out.
My phone rang it was Zack something about Maya not being well. I really wanted to head back but I couldn't leave Luke like this who knows what he might do. She was safe with him so I told him to take care of her until I got back.
I sat with Luke until he fell asleep and then decided to clean the place a bit. I found a huge stash of drugs under his pillow. He was back at it I knew it. I decided to call Mr. Pasha this would take a few days. He was nice on the phone and didn't ask too many questions respecting my privacy like I knew he would. He was now at Zacks house and Maya was fine she was sleeping thankfully. I felt bad she missed receiving her award but right now I had bigger problems so I hung up.
Rummaging through all the cupboards I came across ramen noodles and there were eggs in the fridge so that was the meal of choice but it took me a while as the stove was playing up. When I went inside to get Luke he wasn't on the sofa where I'd left him. I panicked and searched the house but he was nowhere. He had left in that zoned out state he would fight with someone and he would end up at the police station. Desperate I got into my car and tried driving around to see if I could find him. I rang him and to my utter disbelief he picked up. Still high on whatever he took
'Maya is that you' he spoke so quietly I knew the stages first it was sadness but soon he would get angry
Not able to get a straight word out of him I put the phone down and dialled Maya only she'd be able to help me now.
(Maya's POV)
It was 3am I'd showered and wore black leggings and a black tank top under my night gown. I poked my head through dad's room
'Night appa can't wait for tommorw but let's have a lie in huh'
'Yes you are right it's late get a good night sleep and we will meet for a late brunch. I love u beta you know that right?'
'And I love u appa, night' I sighed as I left him. I didn't like lying to him but still I sat on the cold wooden floor outside his room until I heard him snore. Then I quickly went to my room, threw off my night gown and put on a grey hoodie and sneakers. I snuck out of the house on the back side of the house as he wouldn't have heard it. Quietly I walked past Zacks house and down the street where as promised Lizetta sat in her black Audi A3 waiting for me.
Getting in the passenger side I gave her a quick hug.
'How are you' I enquired
'Fine but we must hurry' she said as she sped away down the road
(Zacks POV)
I sat by my window unable to sleep. Thoughts of her ran on my mind and everytime I lay down I could still smell her scent in my bed and it drove me crazy. That's when I saw her at first I thought I'd imagined a slender shadow dashing across the back garden but as she went past my house I was sure it was her. Where was she going at this time of the morning?
I wanted to follow like I had that day she argued with her dad. The thought of the creep by the river made my blood boil. If he had touched a single hair on her head I would have beat him to death with my bare hands. Calming myself I decided to sneak out and as I got to the corner I saw her get into a black car that had someone in it but I couldn't make them out at this distance. I dashed inside and grabbed my keys purposefully not making a sound. I got in my car and followed them until we got to some red lights and then I realised it was Lizettas car and she was driving. I breathed deeply relieved she was safe but still curious as to where they were going at this time. I had promised her she wouldn't hear about the marriage anymore but I still kept doing things like this. I had to let go for her sake so when they drove straight I took a left and returned home.
