Chapter 14

Saturday morning came around too quick. I barely slept nervous about the dinner tonight since i was going to give this marriage thing a try for dad's sake. I got up at 7.30am and went down for breakfast starving as usual. Lizetta had made pancakes she must be in a good mood since Luke was getting discharged today.
'Yum these look soo good' i sat quickly grabbing a stack and pouring cream and strawberries all over the plate.
'Pig out Maya you're going to need your strength, your dad has asked me to bring Luke to live here until his leg is fully healed as otherwise I'd have to leave you guys and move in with him to care for him' she said trying to read my expression. She didnt have to because i jumped up ecstatic
'This is going to be so much fun' i exclaimed shuffling more food into my mouth then would look possible for my thin frame to handle. Everyone who knew me knew i ate a lot. I was awkward around strangers and hardly ever went out alone but with Luke and Lizetta i was comfortable and they would drag me out to have fun. I couldn't wait i went upstairs to get dressed and bumped into dad on the stairs.
'Beta are you going to get Zainabs gift'
'Yea dad' i lied as I'd totally forgotten again because of Luke.

Me and Lizetta drove to the hospital to pick Luke up first since he kept text harassing us both to get him out of there. Needless to say we had a little fun with his new set of wheels.
'Wow you two are actually children, stop messing with the wheelchair and get in the car' Lizetta tried to be serious but she was giggling watching us do wheelies
On the way home we stopped at the shopping centre to get Zainab's gift but all Luke was concerned about was food. After he devoured a chicken fillet meal and a tub of ice cream he finally let me shop. I figured i would get her a nice handbag so we walked into Michael Kors. I had seen a gorgeous red purse here before and knew she would love it. I was about to go pay when Lizetta nudged me
'Don't you need a dress for tonight' i knew she was being cheeky and wanted to tell her to shove it but she was right i really had nothing to wear.
'Fine' i huffed and went into the dress section pulling out the first blue dress i went to the dressing room and tried it on. It was a pretty dress with a sweetheart neckline and a pencil style skirt but it was much too tight and revealing.
'Come out let us see' Lizetta pulled the curtain back

(Luke's POV)
I was looking through the mens wallets outside the changing room when Lizetta pulled the curtain back of the dressing room. My jaw fell open and my eyes nearly bulged out of thier sockets, she was breathtaking in blue. The dress clung to her tiny frame but Maya had curves that made my cheeks burn i had never seen anything so beautiful in all my life. I was staring and she was getting uncomfortable so i coughed and wheeled myself over to the mens bags. 'Uh not that one' i mumbled on my way anything but that one. I knew what was going on tonight Lizetta had told me everything about her being betrothed to Zack the dude with the stick up his ass. I remembered him hanging around when they were younger and i never liked the thouht of him for some reason he rubbed me the wrong way. We were as opposite as the moon and the sun and we never saw eye to eye on anything, well except Maya.

(Maya's POV)
Luke didn't seem to like this dress as he dissapeared into the mens section but Lizetta wolf whistled at me and spun me around like a doll.
'You look out of this world gorgeous Maya'
'Its way to revealing im going to try the black one on' i was about to change when she shoved a red dress in my hand
'Trust me' she winked stepped back and drew the curtain closed. I liked clothes but fashion was not my forte so i slipped on the dress without argument and came out. Lizetta gawked at me which made me nervous was it ugly? I realised i hadn't even looked in the mirror yet. She turned me to face a floor length mirror on the wall and i gasped. I looked like someone else, the red made my olive completion come alive and the dress felt like it was made for me. The lace arms were so elegant but the tight bodice and flaring skirt synched my womenly curves making me look like a Hollywood actress. Although it had no embellishments on it the dresses shimmering fabric sparkled. It had a boat neckline just perfect for mums pearls, i was actually excited to wear it tonight. I couldnt see Luke anywhere and Lizetta had already gushed at me enough so i decided to get changed and go pay.

Walking out of the shopping centre i didn't feel as nervous as before, i was ready to find out whether Zack and I could ever mean something more to one another. That evening i got ready with Lizettas help, she curled my hair and put half of it up. Although her and Luke were invited they had decided to stay home since Luke needed to practice his physio exercises and rest up. He kept coming in and teasing me as i did my makeup
'Maya what is taking so long you still look the same' he laughed as i chucked a cushion at him
My dad caught it and smiled
'Maya beta we'll be late come on you look beautiful enough now hmm' he walked to my bed to put the cushion back and i got up. With heels on i still only reached his shoulder, being 5ft2in was annoying.
'I'm ready dad' i said grabbing my purse and Zainab's wrapped gift. The confidence from earlier had left and had been replaced by utter fear and anxiety. I was an introvert about to walk into a house full of people i dont know to talk to my potential future husband. Little sweat beads popped up on my forehead but the nerves calmed when i walked past and Luke squeezed my hand
'You got this' he winked and i calmed myself before going downstairs.
