Under the Mango Tree- a Luke Brooks Fan-Fic

Chapter 6

I broke down. Crying my eyes out. Not only now were my parents splitting, but I had to choose between Julia and Luke. It was just an impossible thing to do. I cried myself to sleep and woke up the next morning still in my yesterday’s clothes, I was starving and exguasted. I went downstairs and grabbed an apple and then my phone from my bag which I left down there all night. I went back upstairs to take a shower and check my phone.

Lukes P.O.V.

I had called Maddie twice last night and 3 times this morning. It’s not like her to not answer her phone, there must be something wrong.

I grabbed the car keys and ran out the door. I drove to Maddie’s house even though it’s only a 10 minute walk. I had this feeling like something was wrong.

I pulled up in her driveway and walked in. I saw her dad and brother sitting on the couch and her dad said Maddie was in her room. I could feel tension in this house.

I knocked on the door and heard a faint “come in”

I walked in and saw Maddie in her bed. She looked like a wreck.

“Maddie, what’s wrong?” I said rushing to sit next to her and pull her into my embrace. She turned her head into my chest and started crying. I just sat there holding her.

“My p-parents are splitting” she barely got out. I was truthfully shocked, from the short time I’ve known her family, they had seemed like there was nothing wrong. It was so all of a sudden, I think Maddie felt the same way.

“Oh my god, Maddie I’m so sorry… things are going to work out though, I promise.”  I tried sounding comforting.

“No Luke, It’s not, you don’t understand, my dad is moving to Gold Coast and my Mums staying here” she said looking up at me with tears falling out of her eyes.

We both just sat there until I realized what her problem was.

“Go live with Julia, you need her and she needs you” I said half-heartedly.

“No Luke, I can’t leave you”

“Yes Maddie, it’s what you need to do…You’ve been different since she left, I can tell you miss her. Lots.”

“Yeah it was hard, but now I have you and I can’t just leave you behind” she said. “And I asked if I could switch homes back and forth every month but my mum said it would cost too much. Luke I don’t know what to do”

I didn’t want Maddie to move to Gold Coast, I mean yeah I wanted her to be with Julia but I think I’d miss her too much. I know I should let her go though, It would be best for her.

“Things are going to work out, you just need some time to take this all in and then make a decision ok?” I titled her chin up so she was looking at me “I promise” a small smile crept across her face. “We’ll figure out something and I’m not giving up on us.”

“Ok, I believe you Luke.” She said now her eyes dry. “Thank you so much for always knowing what to say”

I leaned back from my sitting position and pulled her back with me, so we were both lying on our backs on her bed, my arms still wrapped tightly around her. I kissed the top of her head. Within 10 minutes she had fallen asleep, I picked her up and tucked her into the covers kissed her forehead and then turned off the light and left.

Maddies P.O.V the next morning

I woke up in my bed alone, I guess I had fallen asleep and Luke put me to bed. I looked around for my phone and then found it on the side table. I was feeling a lot better now that Luke had talked to me about the situation. I turned on my phone and there was a text from Luke.

Good morning Beautiful!

Hope you had a good sleep last night, you seemed really tired. Hope you’re feeling a tad better, Call me when you wake<3

I dialled his number and put the phone to my ear.

“Hey babe” his voice ringed in my ear.

“Hey”

“Want to go shopping today?”

“Yeah sure, I’m just going to hop in the shower quickly, I’ll come over when I’m done.”

“Sounds good”

I hung up and jumped out of bed.

After I showered and ate, I walked over to Luke’s. He met me at the door and escorted me to the car with our arms linked.

Once we got to Melbourne Central he grabbed my hand and we walked around. We looked in a lot of stores but I didn’t find anything to buy, we sat down for lunch but I still wasn’t feeling 100%. I think Luke noticed but understood why.

Mid-Afternoon, he took me home and I thanked him for the day and apologized I wasn’t very fun to be with right now. All he said was for me to take my time with my decision.

I spent the next couple of days thinking. Really hard.

4 days later

Luke’s P.O.V

It had been 4 days sence I had actually spent time with Maddie, I knew she was trying to make the right decision and needed time and mum told me to let her be but I really just wanted to see her right now. We had been texting a little bit but I still missed her. In those 4 days I was kept busy arranging the fundraiser for the mango farm. Ashleigh had helped me pick a date which was in one week exactly, Beau knew a friend who could rent out a club to us. And mum had helped plan what was going to happen. Me, and all of the boys were going to meet fans , take pictures, sign autographs ect, and then we would perform our new single. It was going to be great and we were going to make tons of money. Beau took care of letting the fans know and they all know how much Maddie means to me so they were really supportive and agreed to keep it a secret from her. Luckily for me, Maddie’s not into social networking so we could post stuff on twitter and facebook.

My phone rang from across the room. I went over to pick it up.

“Hello”

“Luke, I have good news” Maddie sounding a lot happier than she had earlier this week.

“Okay…”  I said eagerly wanting to hear the news.

“I’m staying in Melbourne” she blurted out half screaming.

“Maddie that’s great!”

“I know! And I’m not upset about Julia because mum says I can visit her lots”

“I’m so happy you are happy with your decision”

“thanks so much Luke, I know I wasn’t the most pleasant person to be around earlier this week… so thanks for putting up with me”

“hey, anyone in that situation would be like that, I understand”

“Ok well it’s getting late so I’m going to bed, thanks again. I love you.”
