Cheer tryouts were bumped up to 4:30 because of the party that was tonight, which I was still not too sure about going to. Veronica was in the middle telling me about it when she said something that caught my attention, I frowned and stopped her.
"Woah, wait, what did you just say?" She looked at me quizzically.
"Um...Kevin's hosting it?" I smiled biting my lip.
Kevin fucking Woodson
That boy was a fucking greek god. I never really had a thing for white boys, but then I met Kevin freshman year and that shit changed.
"Why didn't you tell me it was his party!?" She smirked.
"I figured if you missed it I'd tell you afterward so you could be pissed, but then I changed my mind because I want you to come." I sighed, I wasn't a party person...but getting closer to Kevin Woodson was a godsend.
"Okay, I'll go, you're lucky though because if it wasn't Kevin's party I wouldn't be going." She smirked and pointed.
"Speak of the devil." I turned around and I saw Kevin and his friends playing basketball, that sight alone was enough to make my thighs tremble.
The things I would do to that boy. I thought with a smirk on my face. My fantasy was cut short as Ezra and his friends walked towards Kevin. I instantly frowned and looked down at the scars on my wrist. Yes, I cut myself sometimes, but he had no right invading my space like that. But the look on his face when he saw it is what's on my mind. He looked like he was genuinely hurt as if he actually cared.
Of course, he didn't, I thought, he was just disgusted with me or something. Regardless, the next time he grabbed my arm like that I was gonna punch him in his throat. "There goes your secret admirer." I rolled my eyes at Veronica.
"Leave him alone," I looked at them, whatever they were talking about, it was getting pretty heated because Ezra looked like he was about to punch someone in the face. I looked back at Veronica. "It still isn't 4:30?" She checked the time and shook her head.
"Another half-hour." I nodded taking a seat on the bleachers as the boys started playing basketball. Kevin's team got the ball first, he smirked as he dribbled up the court, the look on his face made me quiver. Ezra was the one guarding him, and from the looks of it I quickly figured something out.
Ezra was an amazing player on defense. As soon as Kevin got to the half-court line, Ezra was on his ass. The smirk on Kevin's face quickly went away and it was replaced with frustration. No matter which way Kevin went Ezra was already there. It didn't take too long before Ezra's hand quickly shot out, slapping the ball away, Kevin hesitated, which was a mistake because Ezra dove for the ball before it went out of bounds.
"Good fucking defense!" His friend Stephen shouted as Ezra passed the ball to him. He quickly got off the ground and sprinted towards the other half of the court. Sean dribbled at the top of the key as Ezra set a screen for him, Stephen got past his man and dribbled into the lane before throwing a laser pass to Martin in the corner. He faked a three and passed the ball to Ezra who was driving to the basket, he laid it up easily, tapping the backboard before he came back down, glaring at Kevin the entire time. He slapped hands with Martin and jogged back down the court, waiting on Kevin to pass the line again.
"Don't tell me you're actually watching them." I looked up as Stacey walked over to us, putting her long blonde hair into a ponytail. I shrugged and continued to watch them.
"I like basketball," I said with a soft smile, Stacey smirked.
"No, you like Kevin, that's what it is," she looked over at them, "I'm willing to bet anything that those guys are gonna trash, Kevin." I rolled my eyes watching the game. Ezra and Blake switched on defense because of the screen set by Marcus, which was a good thing for Kevin, he was taller than Blake, and as soon as he got some room he pulled up from deep, nothing but net. He smirked at Ezra as he jogged backward. I smiled, I couldn't help myself.
"That's our point guard! I see you Kevin!" He laughed and blew me a kiss. I noticed the look on Ezra's face and stopped smiling, he looked like he wanted to choke me to death. He looked back at the court and asked for the ball from Richard. Stacey laughed.
"You done did it now Keisha, he's pissed." I rolled my eyes at her and watched Ezra as he brought the ball up the court. He dribbled slowly surveying the court, Kevin picked him up defensively, his defense was good at best but Ezra was an excellent ball handler. It looked like Ezra had the ball on a string, he would dribble between his legs forever and whenever Kevin reached for it he'd just put it behind his back and do it all over again. He did a quick crossover getting the space he needed, he drove into the paint and without looking he threw a behind the back pass to Stephen who did a floater, it clanked off the rim and before Kevin's team could secure the rebound, Ezra's friend whose name I didn't know grabbed it and dunked. I rolled my eyes as the girls that came to tryout cheered. Veronica laughed.
"Well, at least we know they got the spirit." I looked back at the court seeing Kevin dribble up the court, this time, Ezra picked him up before he even crossed the line, Ezra's lateral quickness is insane, not only was he single-handedly stopping Kevin, but instead of advancing up the court, Kevin was moving backward. It became so much that Kevin lost control of his dribble and fell, Kevin tried to curl up with the ball but Ezra yanked it from his arms. He stared at me as he dribbled down the court and towards the basket. When he was close enough he looked away and dunked using his right hand. When he came back down he was fucking amped, he began clapping his hands as he jogged back towards his team.
"Pressure bursts pipes! This white boy ain't got shit for me!" I looked at Kevin as he got up. He was clearly pissed, and still a greek god in my eyes and then looked at Ezra.
Well if he's a greek god, I thought, then Ezra must be the god slayer.
