(A/N): This chapter is from the perspective of Jirou. DONT WORRY, the next chapter will bring us back to Bakugo and Nine and we'll see what they're doing. I'm not planning on having Firecracker be more than 20ish chapters so I don't intend to drag the story on. I am, however, planning on writing sequels about the other 1-A students who got trapped in the simulation, so you won't have to say goodbye to these characters and world just yet. Anyway, without further ado, let's get on to the chapter!

"We're sorry!" All of us yelled at once, hoping to god that Aizawa would have mercy on us. This all wouldn't have happened if someone hadn't decided to try and squeeze Midnight's ass, essentially exposing us and causing Aizawa to catch us. I glared at Mineta, really wondering if we could have just handed him a browser open on pornhub and left him to his own devices. At least then our plan would've had a higher probability of working.

"You shouldn't be getting involved in this." His eyes were stern, staring at the whole class. The tension in the room caused us all to fall silent. The darkness of the area only made us feel more panic in this situation, and it was honestly quite terrifying.

"Do you realise how dangerous it is to try and send a message? It can only work when they're in the middle of a stage, and we don't even know if Bakugo is currently in one." He gritted his teeth with anger, trying to hold back the urge to yell at us.

"We don't know what it'll do to him if you sent it at the wrong time, or what it'll do to his AI assistant. Do you have any idea the gravity of the situation? This was perhaps the most irrational thing you could've ever-"

"-it's better than not doing anything!" Everyone stared at Midoriya in surprise. Even Aizawa was stunned. He hadn't said a single word this whole time, keeping his head down and remaining silent. But now his head was up, his eyebrows furrowed, his green irises filled with defiance and conviction.

"When you're a hero, you have to take risks. You have to do something instead of just standing idle. So I won't!" He yelled, tears starting to manifest in his eyes. He shook his head gently and continued.
"We're all on edge. We're all tired. We're all scared. But they're all fighting for their futures in there, and what does it say about us if we let them do it alone?! If there's even a chance, even a fraction of a chance- then-"

All of a sudden, Izuku Midoriya finally broke.

After all the fake smiles, all the motivation he gave us, the bottled up emotions came spilling out. The anger, the sorrow, the frustration, the fear. He began to sob slowly, laughing every now and then, his hands shaking.

"K-Kacchan and the others, they're going to lose their minds, won't they?" He cackled like a maniac, trying to smile in spite of the sadness in his voice and his haunted eyes.

"They'll be as good as dead and we can't do anything. Sometimes I wish I was there instead of them. Sometimes I wish I knew I was saying goodbye forever. There's no way they're going to make it. It's too impossible. There's no way."

All that could be heard were the sounds of Midoriya crying, as we all realised and processed just what had happened.

He had finally decided to give up.

-.-

Aizawa had decided to simply give us a warning and send us back to our dorms, realising how much of a toll this whole thing was taking on us.

I wasn't surprised.

He looked just as tired as we did.

Midoriya hadn't left his room since we got back. Iida's tried to come in, but to no avail. A lot of us were just stunned at the realisation that the our backbone had just snapped. A part of me felt guilty that I didn't notice. That I didn't try to help him. All of us were going through something, but he had no one to talk to. We weren't there for him, even though he was there for us.

"It's my fault...." Kaminari began to say, as the two of us sat together in his room.
"I noticed something was up, but I didn't...."
He bit his quivering lip, trying to be strong.

"No it isn't." I reassured him. "None of us knew this would happen, you included. But we can't just stop here. We HAVE to get through this."

He gave a half-assed laugh.

"What's the point anymore? While we were having fun and hanging out, our friends were fighting for their damn sanity. We failed them, Jirou. I failed them."

"Kaminari-"

"....would you mind leaving? I think I need some time alone."

I nodded, and quietly walked towards the door, silently shutting it behind me.

If there was one thing all of us needed, it was being alone.

                                           -.-

"Hey...can you hear me? Umm...this is Jirou. Listen Bakugo, the villain that's trapped you in there? We're trying to track him down. And....we just wanted to let you know that we're fighting for all of you. I promise you, you'll make it out. We believe in you. I don't know whether or not this message will either piss you off or motivate you (you haven't been the most welcoming when it comes to help) but...either way....it gives you a reason to get back. Someone has to kick our asses right? You haven't crumbled yet, so we won't either.
We're waiting for you."
