Deku and I stood on the roof, away from everyone else to talk. There was silence as he looked out at the view beyond, his curly green hair flowing with the wind, his eyes worried. After an awkward moment of quiet, I placed my hands in my pockets and leaned against the wall, annoyed. What the fuck was he doing?
"So??? What is it???" I grumbled. Deku turned to me, his face serious.
"I just wanted to tell you...you're not alone Kacchan....."
My eyes widened in confusion.
"The fuck do you mean?"
He hesitated for a moment, but clenched his fists and continued:
"I know what it's like to feel like you're weak and pathetic. To feel like you're hopeless. I guess, what I'm just trying to say is, I've been in that position. And to see you brave through it like this, I think it's amazing!" He smiled weakly, determination in his eyes.
"I'm not here for sympathy or to offer you any favours. A part of me felt like giving into spite but- I don't want to do that to you."
My eyes widened.
Wait a minute....there was that drowsy feeling again....
Oh no.
I tried my best to stand my ground, even though I felt like I could just collapse. I had to stand my ground. I couldn't let it consume me.
Damnit!
I gritted my teeth, hoping that Deku would just rip the bandaid off already.
And that was when he started laughing.
He looked at me, his green eyes maniacal and insane, his hands clutching his face.
"Sorry Kacchan," he smirked. "But I'm not going to let this go. Do you realise how much pain and anguish I felt? Guess what, the tables have turned bastard. I'm the king now."
I watched as he got into battle position, a warped smile on his face as he lunged forward. I wanted to fight back, but every part of my body froze from exhaustion. I closed my eyes, yelling at the top of my lungs, hoping she could hear me:
"NINE!"
I gritted my teeth, hoping, praying that she'd be there. Because as much as I didn't like to admit it, I fucking needed her.
A blast of light pushed Deku to the side, causing him to crash down onto the roof floor, stopping him for a few moments.
"Deku's right you know." She looked at me, a smile on her face.
"You're not alone, as much as you'd like to believe it."
Suddenly, everything around me froze, as Nine's yellow eyes stared into my crimson ones, emotionless and blank. I almost forgot that she could ever take on this form.
Then a voice I recognised resonated through my ears:
"Hey...can you hear me? Umm...this is Jirou. Listen Bakugo, the villain that's trapped you in there? We're trying to track him down."
I was stunned. Jirou somehow managed to send me a message?
And....we just wanted to let you know that we're fighting for all of you."
I clenched my fists, shaking.
I promise you, you'll make it out. We believe in you. I don't know whether or not this message will either piss you off or motivate you (you haven't been the most welcoming when it comes to help) but...either way....it gives you a reason to get back. Someone has to kick our asses right? You haven't crumbled yet, so we won't either."
