My eyes flickered open, a wistful smile appearing on my face.
I'll miss you too Nine.
The first thing I realised was that I felt really weak. So weak, in fact, that I could barely move. How long had it been? Weeks? Months???
My eyes traveled to the sides of my bed, and it was then that I realised who was sitting there.
"Mom? Dad?" I croaked, tears welling up in my eyes. My mom grabbed my hand, clearly trying to stop herself from crying as my dad wept with joy.
"It's okay Katsuki. You're safe now."
-.-"You were in there for around two weeks. Glad to see you made it out with no injuries. Don't worry about rehabilitation and therapy. The school will fund all of it. I'm just glad you're alive Bakugo." Aizawa gave me a look of relief.
Two weeks? I couldn't believe such little time resulted in me barely being alive. I struggled to even move my fingers. I had no idea how I was gonna get back on my feet. But instead, I grinned.
"I'm still here and that's all that fucking matters."My teacher grinned.
"Good luck Bakugo."
"Kacchan!" A voice rang out. My eyes travelled to see Deku at the door, looking massively concerned.
"Are you okay?!"
I sighed as my face turned pink. I couldn't believe I was saying this.
"Deku...I'm sorry about....everything...."
He looked at me in confusion. "Huh?"
"IM SORRY I WAS SUCH A PIECE OF SHIT TO YOU!"
He jumped up in surprise, and I couldn't help but groan.
"Listen...all that shit about you being worthless because you didn't have a quirk? That was pretty fucking rude of me. So I'm sorry." I bit my lip nervously, wondering how he'd react. But he just smiled.
"It's alright Kacchan. I'm gonna go tell everyone else you're up!" He ran out with excitement on his face, ready to tell all the others.
I rolled my eyes.
Typical Deku. Always acting like such a lost puppy.
At that, I couldn't help but smile affectionately. That was just how he was.
-.-
As time went on, I slowly drifted in and out of consciousness, my eyes flickering open and closing. Mom and and dad had left the room to discuss my rehab options with the teachers, and I couldn't help but wish that they were here. A bunch of people had come to visit in the past hour, but my mind always drifted to Eijirou, I really wondered how he was doing. Then suddenly, my mom's phone on the table started vibrating, and I couldn't help but reach for it curiously. What? I was bored okay?
"Who the fuck is this?" I began, clearly just wanting to argue with SOMEBODY.
"Um, Miss Bakugo? Is that you? This is Kaito? Kirishima's brother?"
My eyes widened.
"This is her son."
There was a silence for a moment as Kaito processed what I was saying before bursting out laughing.
"Why am I not surprised? Anyway? Eijirou wants to talk to you."
My cheeks went red.
"R-really? He does?"
"Yeah." I could practically hear Kaito's grin.
"Eijirou!" I heard him call out. "Bakugo's here!"
There was a few moments of awkward noise as Kaito passed the phone to Eijirou, before I finally heard his voice.
"What up Bakugo?"
My eyes almost filled to the brim with tears. It felt good to hear his voice again.
I didn't know how things were between us. I didn't know how long it would take for my body to get back to normal. I didn't even know if FACELESS was still out there. But what I did know is that right now, for just a fleeting moment, I felt happy the way I was.
I grinned. "Hey, Shitty Hair."
