Chapter 22

"Hey guys," I said as I approached them.

"Hey girl!" Erica smiled.
"Hey babe," Jake said leaning in to kiss me. I quickly turned my head before he could, which ended up him kissing my cheek. He looked at me weirdly for a second before shrugging off.

"Can I talk to you guys for a second?" I asked nervously.

"Yeah, sure. What's up?" Jake looked at me sideways. I felt like I was going to gag. This all seems surreal.

I can't believe I'm doing this right now I thought to myself. "Umm not here. Let's go out back. I don't want anyone eavesdropping on our conversation," Looking at both of them for their confirmations, I knew they could tell something was wrong.

"This must be really important if Tessa is risking being late to class," Erica joked. I half heartedly laughed at her comment and started leading them outside. I was walking slower than I normally would. But can you blame me? This situation sucks! I took them to the same exact spot that I had first caught them in their... rendezvous. Take a deep breath. It's fine. Just lay it down flat and do it fast. Like ripping off a band aid.

"What about a band aid?" Jake eyed me weirdly.

Crap didn't know I said that out loud I thought mentally scolding myself. "Nothing forget about it," I stopped walking and took a deep breath. I was way more nervous than I thought I would be. Just say it I coached myself. "We're breaking up Jake," I deadpanned. I looked straight at him looking for any emotion before he bursted out laughing.

"Wait wait wait wait wait... you're joking right? You're funny babe, good one," he laughed.

"No I am not and I am sure you both know why," I said looking at them expectedly.

"Wait are you serious? What did I do wrong?" He asked confused. Thought he would at least have the guts to admit that he cheated on me. Guess I couldn't even expect that from him. "Stop playing games with me. I am not stupid! I know you cheated on me." I said looking pointedly at him. Both Erika and him stopped for a second and eyed each other. But of course he continued to deny everything.

"No babe I would never I swear–" I cut him off before he could even finish.

"No don't you babe me you jerk! Cut the fucking bullshit. I know you cheated on me! I am not an idiot! And with my so called BEST FRIEND too!" I shouted looking at Erica who wore a guilty look on her face. "I trusted you Jake! The fucking both of you and you disregarded my feelings as if it were trash! You were the second person in my LIFE I had ever let in! Do you get that! I thought we were doing so well! I knew you were acting strange recently but imagine my shock that the reason for it was because you were cheating on me, and not with some nobody but with her!" I gazed at Erika with distaste.

"Tessa I swear it was a mistake! It didn't mean anything! I would never hurt you!" Erika pleaded with me.

"You know how much I would love to believe you? That it was a careless mistake that would never happen again? Tell me the truth... was this the first time. The first time you cheated on me? Or has it happened before," I said looking between the two of them. They were quiet, avoiding their gaze from me.

"I knew it. I fucking knew it. We're done Jake. Don't call me, text me, or even look on my direction. We're done," I said turning to walk away.

I felt someone grab my hand and pull me back. I turned around to see a distressed look on Jakes face. "Tessa wait! Please baby. I love you come on! This thing with Erica was just stupid," he pleaded.
