"(Name)," Luca responded, running up to your decrepit form at full bolt.
Hiccups and cries sounded through the air of the cathedral, drowning the building in a cacophony of noise. Luca picked your body up easily, your own figure being dwarfed by his. In one instance the world seemed to go away, instead being filled with the warmth of the prince. A flame burned in his heart, crackling and burning furiously like a freshly lit log. taut as a pillar, the mantis stood, his body quivering softly as two tears slid from his eyes.
"Why didn't you tell me?" He began, his head burying into the crook of your neck.
"I didn't know how. Luca, I was so scared." You said, voice hiccuping as you let out another sob.
He pulled you further against him, never letting go as if he were scared you'd run away once more.
"God, (Name)...Oh how I wish you'd told me."
You bobbed your head in agreement and finally pushed off of him. Taking the silken robe they had dressed you in you lightly dabbed at your cheeks, wiping away each and every tear that dared fall. You had to be strong, for your own sake, for Luca's, for Sora.... Luca's eyes softened as he went to kneel down. Now, with eyes meeting yours head on, he spoke up once more.
"Tell me everything (Name), From start to finish, now." He demanded in a soft tone, his eyes fixing upon your form.
He didn't want to scare you, but he needed to know what had happened. It was driving him insane to know that you were and had been suffering. Hesitantly, with a soft sigh and a fresh gulp of air, you responded.
"Alright, I won't hide anymore. J-Just please, stay calm," You pleaded, a look of concern painting your features.
Luca nodded, agreeing to your terms as you began to explain why all of this had happened. From start to finish and top to bottom, you explained your situation to the best of your ability. Ranen's threat, your seclusion, and your absolute bewilderment as to why Maria would blame you for Sora's death all came to light. Luca listened intently, going over each detail with a patient and vigilant eye. With each aspect, Luca revealed nothing but a stoic and indifferent face; however, on the inside, the mantis felt like he was near bloody with rage. Ranen's actions appalled Luca to the core, though, he should have expected it. A mantis like Ranen would stop at nothing to get what he wanted and eliminating any obstacles in his way would not bother him in the least.
Luca tasted blood on his tongue. Blood and brimstone and an unrelenting rage that could not be quelled by any normal means. A beast beat at his breasts, knocking at the cage his ribs had provided it. The man nearly felt his vision go black at the sensation; however, he had to hold it in, lest he frighten your already skittish form. Lightly, with as much grace as he could muster, he sifted a pale hand through your loose h/c locks. You accepted the touch without complaint.
"I will make this right." He promised, a gleam spreading within his azure eyes. "(Name), as prince of Mantodea I will not let this injustice be your undoing. Please, trust me and I promise all will be alright in the end."
You turned your head upward, your eyes never leaving the prince's own as you gave him a soft nod.
"I understand Luca, thank you." You whispered, bringing yourself up a little higher to give him a soft peck on the cheek. With a face the color of molten gold, he turned and covered his it within the hem of his robe.
"Y-You didn't have to do that...I don't want to get the wrong idea..." Blurted the prince, his crystal eyes darting everywhere but at your face.
