"(Name), I want you to relax as you sit down. Like a river flowing against the rocks, think of the sea, the clouds, the air, the sky....Anything but what I am about to do now."
You breathed quietly as you nodded to the beetle who held you down softly. His hands felt like extrapolated leather as he got them into a steady position. The feeling of the needle was nothing but a tiny prick and a bit of pain as it slid slowly beneath your skin.
The first part of the procedure was over.
Kaisey had been looking you over for about an hour at this point with the intent of making sure everyththing was in place. A few bruises and scrapes happened to appear here and there from your earlier fight with the hornet; however, the only wound note worthy enough for treatment happened to be upon your shoulder. A giant gash, barely clotted and still bleeding had been reopened by the black shelled beetle in an attempt to put stitches into it causing many streams of curses to flow out of you throughout the whole medical process. You hissed as you felt the needle go through your skin oncemore.
"Hey! That shit still hurts! Can't you put more anesthesia on it?"
Kaisey chuckled as he put in another seam.
"Well I could, but I think you need a little lesson on not being stupid again. I mean...a hornet? Holy fuck (Name), those things were bred to kill! I can't believe you'd be that stupid...."
You shifted to your side quickly, flinching at the slight prick of the needle beneath your skin.
"I had to do it Kaisey, you know I did. If I didn't who knows what could've happened to Abel. God, even when I distracted him that monster still almost chopped his head off."
Kaisey furrowed his brow in frustration. His precise movements seemed to get a little sloppier in the process.
"The hornet has a grudge against you now (Name). That alone is probably affecting Abel even now. Have you even thought of apologizing to him for it? For making him worry about you so much?"
Guilt entered your eyes as you shook your head no. You hadn't even thought of how that incident might be affecting your brother. He never showed any signs of worry; in fact it seemed like he was happy now that Ranen was here, though maybe you were just oblivious to it. All in all, you never could really tell what was going through Abel's head at any given moment could you?
You fluttered your shell slightly as Kaisey finally finished up his work. The bruises felt much better and even though the stitches hurt and ached it was still much bette Ethan the situation before. At least with this you knew you wouldn't get an infection.
Turning to the beetle you took in his features. A strained frown was plastered upon his face giving away the worry that lay inside. Somehow it made the beetle look older, more tired than before this morning. The two of you hadn't spoken about the incident that happened earlier since you had arrived.
You put a hand upon his shoulder.
"Kaisey, I'm sorry about what happened this morning. I didn't expect Luca to act that way."
Kaisey shook off your hand. The look in his eyes spoke volumes to you about how he felt about it. Fear laid in their pits. Fear and worry and stress that overwhelmed your senses and drowned out your rationality. When the beetle spoke his voice seemed shaky, perhaps even a little stressed.
"I worry for you (Name)....I worry so much it almost makes me wanna throw up. It feels like just yesterday you, me, and Abel were all just children causing mischief. All we knew was our home and the flowers that surrounded us. There was no prince, or priests, or homicidal hornets. Just us three and the boundless field of our imagination taking us wherever we wanted to go. Now though, I can't help but feel like you're playing a dangerous game."
