I dialed in Lucas' number and placed my phone on the counter with speaker, waiting for him to answer.

"Hello, Alex." He said happier than usual.

"Hi, what are you up to?"

"I'm getting ready." He told me and put me on speaker.

"For what?" I crossed my arms over my chest.

"Livia asked me out to dinner."

I raised a brow, "dropout Livia or rich Livia?"

"Rich, I guess."

I could feel my blood boiling, we've hated eachother since the beginning of time. She always tried to beat me with something ten times better and she won just about everything, except class valedictorian. I won that and I can rub it in her surgically altered face 'til the day she dies.

I won at smarts and I am damn proud of that. I could achieve nearly a perfect score on my SATs while she recieved no more than a 950. Good, but not good enough to beat me.

But, this. This is the last fucking straw! If she so much as plucks a blond hair off the top of his head, I will destroy her with my own two hands.

"Oh, that's cool." I faked for him.

"Yeah, so what'd you call about?"

"Just to see if you wanted to come over and help me babysit my cousins, but you obviously have something better to do tonight. So, I'll talk to you... whenever."

"Is something wr-"

"Nope. I've just got them in the living room. I've got to go." I told him and end the call. I went upstairs leaving my phone there. I grabbed the box of origami paper from beneath the bed. I ran back downstairs with it and placed in on the floor in front of the TV. Emily looked down at the box and up at me

Someone knocked at the door. Maybe it was our parents, but they did say they would be out way later than ten.

I got up off the floor and put down my paper, Emily watching me as I walked to the door.

"Who is it?" I asked.

"Me." I sighed and cracked the door open a little.

"What are you doing here, Lucas?" I asked him.

He shrugged, "I came to see you."

"It's late."

"You say it like we don't ever walk in later than ten."

"I'm not saying that. It's just that I'm babysitting, right now."

"It wasn't a problem three hours ago when you called me. Just let me in."

I crossed my arms over my chest, "the baby's asleep."

"What's your problem, Alex?"

I shook my head, "nothing. Just the baby is sleeping."

"I'll be quiet."

"Go home, Lucas. Please."

He sighed and leaned against the doorway, "I'm not going anywhere until you talk to me, Alex."

"I'm fine. I don't need to talk to you."

"Are you upset?" I stared at him blankly. "Are you jealous?"

"Yeah, right! Why would I be jealous?"

"Because you and Liv hate eachother."

Now she's 'Liv'? Really, Lucas, really? You've known me for the longest time and you don't call me 'Lex', but you talk to her for a few hours and suddenly she's 'Liv'.

I shook my head, "it's more of a competition between us than it is hate. Now, I have to go babysit and you need to go home."

I closed the door in his face, "Aleeeex." He whined at the door. I locked the door and went back to Emily.

I sat down on the floor and began counting how many we made.

Sure, I'm upset, but only because he's my best friend and he should've told me sooner. I don't want him getting hurt and Livia will do exactly that to him. Lucas isn't cut for heartbreak. He's very soft and gushy and sweet and lovable once you get to know him though he very rarely show it.

Livia will completely just break him to bits and pieces and if she does that, I just might have to break her to bits and pieces. I don't want Lucas gettin hurt by anyone ever.
