Secret Shifter

Part 12- Derek's POV

'I need to show you why they call me The True Shifter.'

Once she said those words I didn't know what to expect. I could only imagine why they had called her that, but I respected her privacy and have been waiting for her to tell me. This was the moment I have been waiting for. Not only did it tell me she trusted me enough to tell me her secret, but it meant that she was sharing a side of her that I didn't know, and I ecstatic.

I watched as her body transformed from her stunning Black and White Wolf, to various animals. She shifted from wolf to lion, from lion to horse, horse to owl and she continued. Once she was finished she returned to her human form and changed. I could see her looking at me, waiting for an answer. But I didn't have one.

My mind was racing, what she had just done was incredible! I was stunned and honoured for her to share it with me. It made my heart swell with affection. But I couldn't help thinking of the looming darkness that wanted to claim my sweet Mate. Now I knew why they wanted her I had to protect her with my life.

I mind linked with my Beta and told him to gather all my men, that I wanted everyone gathered in the clearing in the next two hours. As I was shouting orders to my pack I noticed I had been left standing alone out the front of my house. My heart raced, where was Kat!?

Instantly I listened for her heart beat and found it too was racing, but on the otherside of my front door. I sighed in relief and found comfort that she too was anxious. Slowly I walked inside and closed the door behind me. I needed to race upstairs to my study and make some important phone calls, regarding Kat's protection.

I stopped and looked at my beautiful Mate sitting on the kitchen stool. She met my eyes and my heart ached when I thought of anything happening to her. I left her sitting there and went to my study, I wouldn't let anything happen to her. She was my life and now my future, and I'd be damned if anyone touched a hair on her head.

When I left the house Kat was on the sofa and I stopped and took her in. She really was beautiful, elegant in her own way and I couldn't believe she was tortured by nightmares.

I heard her cry out in her sleep more often than not and every time I wanted to race to her side, but each time she would flick the lights on and deter me from entering. I hated to see her smile when inside she was scarred from those who pursued her. She deserved better and I was going to provide her with that.

I let out a sigh in hopes to calm the anxiety I felt when ever I thought of her in danger. With that I felt determined and left to the meeting with my pack. On my way I mind linked two pack members to guard my house and my precious Mate. When I arrived at the clearing I was surprised to see not only my men, but their Mates as well.

'Alpha,' the Beta spoke, 'We all agreed that if our new Luna is in any trouble, that we'd all fight.'

'And if you don't mind me saying Alpha,' a female member spoke, 'She makes you happy and we can all see how much you have changed since you met her.'

My pack members all nodded in response. I was truly moved by my pack, not only did they care about me, but they also cared about Kat.

'I thank you all for you kindness. However I do not want to force this upon anyone, so anyone who doesn't want to fight may be pardoned.' As much as i loved Kat and wanted to keep her safe, i knew that my men would ne anxious to have their Mates put in danger as well, so i gave them the option. 

My Alpha tone was much softer than normal and I knew they could sense the anxiety I felt for my Mate. 'I have also contacted our allies, Howler Pack and High Falls pack to assist us in anyway.'

'Alpha!' Someone shouted through mind link.

'What Scott!?' I shouted back, it damn near scared the shit out of me.

'Your Mate! Kat is nowhere to be found!' His words hit me hard and made my heart sink.

The two guards that I had sent to watch Kat appeared before me in Wolf form. 'Well don't just stand there! Get the patrols out there and search for her!'

Instantly my men shifted and took off. Where did she go!? 'You three with me, everyone else get out there and find my Mate!' I growled.

'I swear if those Rogue bastards have taken her, they will wish they were never born!' I cursed as I shifted and made my way to Howler Pack.
