Steve

Steve had called the team at the compound to his office as soon as he got the message from Bruce.

"So he wants an army of powerful beings?" Sam asked.

"Apparently so. His plan naturally started with super soldiers but when Bruce's accident happened, he tried to recreate that. That's what led to Harlem getting smashed up." Steve confirmed.

"So what do we do now?" Clint asked.

"We stay quiet. We watch him. If he makes any kind of move we shut it down. I'll arrange a meeting with Betty, see what she knows. Sam, Rhodey, you continue following the leads we have on Rumlow. I'll call Nat and see what the others are doing." Steve explained.

"I'll set the meeting up for you. Give you one less thing to worry about." Clint said.

"Thanks, Barton." Steve sighed.

"I'll look for any information there is for him." Vision said.

"Thanks. That's all for now. Stay safe and stay low." Steve nodded at the group, dismissing them.

"Captain Rogers, Miss Romanoff has been attempting to contact you. She's on line one." F.R.I.D.A.Y said once the team left.

"Thanks, patch her through."

"Steve? Everyone ok?" Natasha asked.

"They took it well. Rhodes and Sam are following Rumlow, the rest of us are staying as quiet as we can."

"I wish I could say the same. Bruce is stressing. Not even his tea or yoga are helping. He might need a vacation." Natasha said sullenly.

"And Tony?"

"He's having a meeting with Pepper, she's using her contacts to get info on Ross, he's also going see Jessica when she's released."

"That's good."

"You know this would be easier if you talked to him yourse-"

"No." Steve interrupted

"Steve-"

"No. The more space between us the better."

"You're going have to talk to him eventually."

"I know... I just don't know what I can say that would make it better." Steve admitted.

"The truth. Trust me, Tony doesn't like to hold grudges, just be open and honest. I have to get going I'll talk again soon." Natasha said before the line went dead.

Steve slouched in his chair. Life had seemed a lot easier just few short months ago. Just as it seemed they were getting over one hurdle another one appeared. Maybe Natasha was right. Having Tony and Steve in the same place would make things easier...

"F.R.I.D.A.Y can you arrange a meeting with Tony please?"
