Author's notes

Ok, guys, here it is.

This chapter is very very veeeery dear to me, but it's also very heavy.

I know I stalled you and I took my time with these flashbacks, but, I wanted to give their past justice.

Also, when the words decided to come out, they just poured. Hence this spectacularly long chapter,

I promise you'll have all the answers you need for now when you finish it, though.

I also have to put a warning here in the beginning because, later on there'll be a triggering scene.

I'll warn again right before it starts so you can be aware of it.

Please enjoy and comment to make a girl happy :)

Flashback part 3/3

They drove for a while with no particular heading but ended up at the park 8 blocks away from their homes. It was a quiet neighborhood and during the day the park was filled with kids screaming and playing. At this moment, though, it was dead silent and they couldn't see a soul nearby.

Dylan parked and they got out of the car quietly. As soon as she felt the cold breeze, Yue crossed her arms to try to warm herself a bit. Dylan quickly took off his jacket and gave it to her, who smiled in return.

It was a clear night and the dark blue sky was filled with countless stars. They walked for a bit and found a bench overlooking the woods at the end of the park. Yue sat down and patted the seat next to her asking for He Di to sit. He smiled at her invitation and sat, putting an arm around her shoulder to warm her up.

They stared at the sky and counted the stars for the longest time. Both of them wanted to speak but also didn't want to break the bubble. Dylan had a billion questions running through his head but, in the end, it was Yue who first broke the silence.

"Thank you for not asking anything until now" She began, looking truly embarrassed "I'm sorry to show up like that your house, I just wasn't thinking properly and you were the first person that came to my head..."

"Are you insane?! we're friends, Yue, of course you can come to me! Although I have to admit that I totally panicked when I saw your face at the doorstep" He shivered at the memory "I swear I immediately thought something bad had happened to you, but thank god you're ok--"

"Something bad did happen" Yue cut him off with a low voice.

"Do you want to talk about it?" He DI looked at her questioningly.

She nodded and began to tell him

"I was getting ready for dinner when I heard a loud noise in the kitchen. I heard them fighting before but, as you well know, that is pretty standard scenario at our place, so I paid no mind to it. But then, I yelled for my mom and she never replied. So I went downstairs..."

Dylan began to stroke her arm encouraging her to keep going.

"When I entered the kitchen, I froze at what I saw" She closed her eyes at the memory "My Dad was pushing my mom against one of the cabinets and trying to choke her. He was yelling at her about it all being her fault and she was trying to break free. His face was red with anger but my mom was just quietly sobbing. I swear that at first I thought they were pranking me or something, but, when I saw her eyes, I just knew they weren't. All I saw was fear and pure sadness."

Tears reappeared on her face and began to flow down her cheeks, wetting her lap and her crossed hands. She closed her eyes to try to keep them from falling but it was inevitable. Seeing her like this broke Dylan's heart and he was fighting the urge to kiss her lips and promise Yue he would fix everything.

"Then, I knew I had to do something. I saw the empty bottle on the floor and didn't think twice. I grabbed it then threw it on the floor to scare him off. I said that if he didn't let her go I would call the police. At those words, he suddenly snapped out of his trance and looked around. My mom was crying, I was crying and there was glass all over the floor..."
