Shen Yue was laying on the couch with a ramen bowl waiting to be devoured. Her mother was fast asleep on the room next door and she was nowhere near sleepy. It had been a long day at the hospital but her mind was still restless.
While she waited for the bowl to cool down a little, she began to browse through the series and movies to watch. She was almost settling in for a documentary about healthy cooking but her cat Sunny had other plans. He jumped on the couch next to her and stepped on the remote, 'choosing' a random Hollywoodian rom-com with Katherine Heigl about a girl who was desperately looking for love.
"Great, now YOU're also nagging me about getting a boyfriend?" she hissed at the cat upon seeing the opening credits. "Did Ma put you up to this?" Yue added.
Sunny simply stared back with his big orange eyes and began to lick his paw, as if saying 'hey, it's not my fault. You're the one who's 27 and still single'.
"Ok, fair enough, I'll watch it then" she added in a defeated tone.
Halfway through the movie, her phone buzzed as she got message from her Secretary on WeChat. She took a glance at the clock on the kitchen wall behind her and cursed. 'It's 2 am, what on earth must've happened for her to message me at this godly hour?'
Shu Mei: Sorry, Can I call you? It's urgent.
Shen Yue: Sure, I'm still up.
Mei's face framed by her auburn hair appeared on the screen and she answered the call right away.
"Hey, whats up, Mei? Please don't tell me you're still at the hospital! Are you trying to get me arrested for slave labor?" She joked and paused the movie to focus on the call.
"Ha ha, you're hilarious, boss. But, no." She answered with a sleepy voice. "I've just received a call that was 13 hours away, that's all."
The other girl laid back at the couch and began to pet her cat.
"Are you seated? 'cause this is huge!" she cooed in a gossipy tone.
"For all that's good and sacred, promise me this is not gossip about the hospital's new head surgeon coming from Harvard"
The previous head surgeon was going to retire in the next year and all the staff was crazy to find out the latest scoop on who could be his replacement. A lot of theories had surfaced, such as this one about the Harvard PHd stepping in. Yue was not having any of it and was fine with whoever it was, as long as they were a good leader.
"Nah, gurl. this is major. But, you're not too far from it, geographically speaking though" She stated.
"Focus, Mei." The brunette pleaded.
"Ok, sorry. So, I received a phone call from an NBA agent, asking for an emergency appointment for his athlete tomorrow morning. They said the guy's shoulder is in pretty bad shape after an injury and you were highly recommended. They are already on their way here."
Shen Yue's heart skipped half a beat when she heard NBA, but, she quickly shrugged it off. She had treated other NBA athletes before. And she was indeed specialized in shoulder injuries.
"Ok, tomorrow morning as in..." She checked the clock again and saw that it was 02:15
"...7 hours" her secretary finished.
Argh, great! she thought. I'm meeting another 6'4" american giant who'll tease me about my height and I'll be looking like a zombie who barely got decent hours of sleep.
"Ok, I'll try to get some sleep then. Thanks for letting me know." She said while getting up from the couch and scanning the room for her laptop. "What's the yankee's name anyway? I wanna check if I can find anything related to his injury on ESPN"
She found her computer under a pile of patient's folders and reminded herself that she had to go through those some other time.
"Oh no, he's not american. He's chinese" Mei answered. "Have you heard of Dylan 'DiDi' Wang?"
Yue's heart sank to the floor and she barely had time to brace herself before all the memories came flooding in.
"Yes, Him I've heard of" She replied in a cold tone.

Flashback, 20 years ago.
Dylan saw the moving truck park on the driveway next to his. He was playing with his toys on the living room and also pretending to be a spy at the same time by peaking through the curtains.
He saw a man and a woman carry a few boxes inside and quickly wondered if they had a son who he could play with. It would be so nice to have a playmate to go on adventures.
The young boy was starting to daydream about going on scavenger's hunts and playing fight games with his 'new friend' when he saw a little girl emerge from the house. She was about 7 years old, like him, but smaller. She was wearing boyish clothes, but, no doubt she was a girl. With her big doe eyes and a bowl cut with very strong bangs.
"Come inside, YueYue, let Ma and Pa take care of the boxes" He heard her mom say.
So it wasn't a boy, but a girl, and her name was Moon. But why was she dressed like a boy?
That was a mystery for him to solve right away. Dylan abandoned the toys and grabbed a coat for his 'light recon' mission outside.
The long legged boy headed towards the neighbor's front porch and hid behind the bushes waiting for the next move. He almost froze to death when he hear a soft giggle near him.
"Who's this?" He said "Show yourself or I'll scream!" he added defiantly.
The girl emerged from behind a tree and looked curiously at him. It seemed like she was the one spying on him and not the other way around.
"I thought boys were braver than this" she joked and his cheeks quickly turned pink from embarrassment.
"I AM BRAVE!" he screamed and pouted while crossing his tiny arms. The girl giggled again and offered her hand for him to shake.
"Sorry, I was just teasing you. My name is Shen Yue. What's yours?"
He shook her hand as a sign of peace and replied "I'm Wang He Di, but my friends call me DiDi"
"Ok, Didi, you can call me Yue, because that's what MY friends call me"
End of Flashback

"YUEEEEEE, Are you still there?" Her assistant's voice removed her from her trip down memory lane.
"Sorry, Mei, I guess I'm just sleepy" She lied. "What did you say again?"
"I asked if you wanted me to give you a ride tomorrow, since you haven't picked up your car from the mechanic yet"
Shit, she had forgotten about that. Her mind was playing tricks on her.
"Sure, thank you" She replied, faking a sleepy voice.
"Ok, girlboss, I'll see you at 08:45! Now, go get some beauty sleep so you can kick some ass at tomorrow's appointment" She cheered.
"Thanks, Mei, see you in a few hours" Then she hung up the phone.
She turned down the lights and checked if the door was closed before heading to her bedroom. She typed a quick message to her long time best friend, Xiao You, knowing she was only gonna read it in the morning, and laid down.
Shen Yue: Dylan's back in Shanghai.
She pressed the send button and rolled over on the bed. Sleep was definitely the last thing she was gonna do now the she knew He was back.

this story just popped on my mind recently when I was shamelessly drooling over Didi's pics wearing basketball uniforms. *guilty* But I really hope you love it as much as I do.
They are a bit older on this one, Yue is 27 as you could see, and Didi will be only a few month's younger than her.
It's gonna be a bit long, but I'll try to update quickly, so bear with me, please.
