The surgery was tricky and required every bit of attention from Yue. She gave 200% of her efforts throughout the procedure and triple checked every movement, not only because a professional athlete's career depended on this, but simply because this was Dylan.
Thankfully, she was able to perform the surgery via arthroscopy, so there wouldn't be a major cut (and scar later). Dylan's rotator cuff was deeply torn, but the tissue surrounding it was healthy, so it was able to fully repair it.
Shen Yue left the operating room and removed her scrubs, feeling 100lbs lighter. She knew she needed to go out and eat something or maybe just rest a bit but, she needed to see him.
The recovery room was almost empty. Dylan was sleeping soundly in one of the beds and the nurse was taking notes at his chart.
"Doctor Shen, Hello! Can I help you with anything?" The male nurse stopped writing and greeted her.
"No no, please, continue what you were doing. I'm just here to check on Mr Wang"
He nodded and resumed writing.
Yue approached He Di's bed carefully as to not wake him, even though she knew very well he was still going to be out for a few hours. While settling at at the end of his bed she reached for the necklace inside her coat pocket.
Dylan was a huge part of her story and she knew it would be hard to deal with her feelings if he ever decided to be back her life. But she didn't expect it to be THIS hard.
Yue was well aware she was also to blame for their fallout, but, for years and years she was only focused on Dylan's playboy/womanizer behaviour and processed it as an indicator of how they'd never be able to be together again.
Yet, here they were. Not quite in the same page but, still on the same storyline. And what was she going to do about it? She knew she still loved him, after all she pushed away every single guy that chased her throughout college and residency because of that.
She always made excuses not to date, they were always too clingy, too arrogant and too entitled for her taste. And they all had one thing in common: they weren't Dylan. She was absolutely sure no one would compare to him.
But was she brave enough to pursue her feelings now?
You have to tell him the truth, Yue, it's the least you can do. You owe him that. Said the little voice on her head. Yue shook her head, trying to shut the voice and organise the thoughts in her mind.
She knew that. But what if Dylan freaked out about her past? What if they got into a fight and he ran away again, could she handle it?
Yue felt a pat o her shoulder and turned to see who it was.
"Excuse me, Dr Shen. It's Shu Mei, she says there is an international call for you on line 2"
"Who is it?"
"she says it's Mr Wang's agent"
"I'll answer at my office, thank you"

"Hi, this is Dr Shen" Yue answered the phone call with a firm voice
"Thanks for taking the time to talk to me, Dr Shen. I'm Lewis Crown, Dylan's agent" Said the male voice at the other end of the line.
"No problem, Mr Crown. What can I help you with?"
She heard him sigh deeply.
"Well, I really don't know where to begin..." Lewis cleared this throat before continuing "I just got off the phone with the team's manager and I'm afraid I have some bad news"
Yue felt her legs go soft and that familiar sting on her chest (well known from her anxiety attacks) settled in once again. She had to gather all her professionalism and strength to maintain a cal voice.
