Yue was turning the keys on the door lock when her phone rang and she saw her friend's round face on the screen.

"What do you mean, he still has your necklace?" Xiao You's pitch was 5 times higher than she remembered when she picked up the phone.

"Can you say it louder? I'm pretty sure deaf dogs couldn't hear your voice, Xiao You!" She greeted her best friend.

"I meant exactly what you read! And he not only has the necklace but he was WEARING IT." Yue elaborated and heard her best friend sigh on the other side of the line.

"Ugh, I just don't get him!"

"YOU don't get him? What about ME?" She complained so loud that she startled her cat who was napping on the couch.

"I don't know, he just looked all broody and hurt, nothing like that player boy who appears on the cover of gossip magazines with a different girl every week"

"IT'S AN ACT, YUE! Please don't tell me you fell for it."

Yue's cheeks were flustered as she remembered what happened on her office and she thanked the heaven's they weren't video chatting.

"I tried really hard ok, but, we ended up hugging!" She blurted out regretfully "Don't yell at me, Xiao You! Seeing him hurt, talking about the past and then finding the necklace got me all kinds of soft inside"

"Shen Yue! You're impossible! I leave for a month and you are knee deep in Dylan Wang. It's like high school all over again"

Flashback part 2/3

11 Years ago - Age 17

It was their junior year in school and Yue was turning 17 today. She was sitting on the bleachers and watching He Di's last basketball practice of the week and he was giving 200%. Yue would cheer and clap her hands and Didi would wave at her from time to time.

Xiao You: WASSUP, birthday girl. I just crushed Bio finals, Want to go to get ice cream?

Shen Yue: I can't, I'm at Dylan's practice. He's gonna drive me home later.

Xiao You: You are so his puppy :P

Shen Yue: AM NOT. We're just friends.

Xiao You: yeah, right, and the sky is not blue.

Yue ignored the last text and looked at the court again. The head cheerleader had her eyes glued to Dylan the entire time and that did not passed unnoticed by Yue. She knew girls liked Dylan, a lot of them often confessed their feelings by letters or notes, but Youqi was just next level.

Yue was used to it by now, but it still bugged her that Dylan never pushed the girl away. I mean, he had said he didn't like her but he would never do something to stop her displays of affection.

The coach whistled and practice was over. Dylan ran across the court and sat next to Yue, leaning his head on her shoulder.

"Oh my god, I'm so tired I wish I could sleep here"

"EW, No way! smelling like this I won't have it"

He faked an offended expression and ruffled her hair affectionately.

"Stop it, I actually spent time doing my hair today"

"And yet it looks the same"

She slapped him on the shoulder
