Jidda is a 19 years old girl, living in a confines of a village in Birnin Kebbi, kebbi state Nigeria
Jidda is a girl blessed with intelligence among other ladies of that village, she lived in a small house with her mom, Hajia Larai who was the most toughest old woman in the town, a no nonsense person who does not believe in westernization and her father, Alhaji bubakar a teacher in the only community school of Gwandu, After coming back from the military he became a teacher
Jidda was blessed with four sisters and no brother
She wasn't her mother's favorite because she chose to study."Good morning ladies and gentlemen, today on I remember me, we Have the youngest Nigerian doctor here with us today"
Her father's radio kept talking and talking until she can no longer take it, jidda being a light sleeper waked up from her peaceful sleep and ambled out to meet the noise
"Good morning baba" she greeted and sat next to him "shh, let me listen" father said.
Jidda is very close to her father more than she is with her mother, which is very strange in the this part of the world
Even though Alhaji Bubakar has never said it, everyone knows that jidda was his favorite among all his children and he holds her in high regards.
Alhaji Bubakar is a 60 year old man who God has blessed with a family of five girls and no boys, he was an ex military man but after he was shot in the leg he came home to settle and start a family, where his marriage was arranged with his cousin Larai, Alhaji Bubakar still in his 60 years of age doesn't look old and sick in fact he looks a decade younger than his age, his fair complexion, straight nose and beautiful eyes, jidda has inherited some of his features but she still looks like her mother."I graduated from Usman Danfodio University Sokoto, when i was twenty, I went to Medical School at twenty two and by twenty three i was a practicing hematologists" A strange voice narrated from the radio
and Jidda was triggered to here more about this young doctor.
"What type of cases do you deal with?" A feminine voice asked,
"Hematology" he responded
" this is a branch of medicine concerned with the study of the causes, treatment and prevention of blood related diseases, So most of the patients I deal with, are sickle cell patients which is very common here in Nigeria and patients that are Hemophiliac" he explained perfectly
"that brings the end of this program with Dr Abubakar Nasir" the lady said, with a sophisticated accent"Tune in by this time tomorrow, to hear more from this amazing Doctor,
thank you" she added"Good morning my dear" Baba greeted back
"This is so educating, that's why I didn't want to be distracted, this is the type of programs you should listen to not those Bollywood songs, those song will add nothing to your knowledge"
Baba preached, and for the first time jidda agreed with him.Jidda wondered why she was born in this part of the world, she wanted to become a Doctor just like Dr nasir, she had dreams to converse with the moon and live in the lush of the clouds, but she learned the hard way that her dreams should never dare to leave her bed not even her room, because ladies in her Village are only allowed to go as far as secondary school junior classes.
If not for her Baba that stood by her, she wouldn't be in SS3, Hajia Larai wanted her to get married when she finished her primary school, but her Baba Alhaji Bubakar being a school teacher, wanted his daughter to study further, he even promised to pay for her Senior Examinations.
She was by far the most intelligent girl in her class, so it will be a waste of talent for her not to study furtherThe next morning, the little lady was in anticipation of when 'the I remember me' program will start
"Baba, Baba is time for yesterday's program please turn the radio" she stood at her fathers door
"Jidda, your mother is sleeping and I don't want to disturb her"
"Okay baba pass me the Radio please" she pleaded
"Good morning beautiful people, we welcome you back to I Remember me,
we are still blessed with the presence Young Doctor, Doctor Nasir Abubukar, who is an inspiration to many young adults" the host said
