Chaeyoung could have sworn that Mina was looking forward for the both of them meeting. She heard it from her voice, and the way that Mina asked if she was asking her out was so unexpected.
For two years of friendship, it was the first time that Mina said something like that. It shocked Chaeyoung, of course, because it was so unusual for her to be vocal in that kind of matter. Chaeyoung doesn't know how to take it, but she doesn't want to take it seriously. Maybe she was just teasing her? It was just so unclear for her.
"Hey, Chaeyoung, you alright? You've been spacing out." Jiwoo asked worriedly as she notice Chaeyoung has been zoning out for several times now. "Huh? Oh, yeah... yeah I'm fine, just... preoccupied at the moment." Chaeyoung faked a smile, but Jiwoo didn't believed it. Jiwoo sighed and smiled back, "Alright." She doesn't want to force her to tell her, but she does hope that she's truly fine.
They reached the mall and looked at the movies that was showing that day. "Nothing interesting, though." Sooyoung uttered, evidently showing that she doesn't like any movie that was being premiered. "True, wanna go to our place instead? We got lots of movies." Jinsoul offered. Jiwoo beamed and nodded. "I guess I would want that more, but I do hope Chaewon won't burn the house down again." Sooyoung teased, and Chaewon gave her a death stare. "Shut up." Chaewon snapped, which made Sooyoung laughed. "By the way, Chaeyoung, you still coming with us?" Sooyoung's question made the four other girls turned to her. "I mean... if it's okay with you guys." Jiwoo let out a laugh. "Of course, Chaeyoung. You're more welcome to join us!" She replied. "Let's get going, then." Sooyoung announced. Jiwoo clinged onto Sooyoung's arm, while Chaeyoung and Chaewon enjoyed watching them walk. Jinsoul, on the other hand, made disgust expressions that made the both of them laugh.
As they almost reached the parking lot, Chaeyoung saw Jeongyeon going to the mall.
"Wait up, guys, I'll just talk to someone." Chaeyoung said. "Sure, we'll wait here." Jiwoo replied. Chaeyoung jogged towards Jeongyeon to be able to catch up on her.
"Hyung!" Chaeyoung called out. Jeongyeon turned to her and saw Chaeyoung panting. "Chaeyoung? What are you doing here?" Jeongyeon went to her. "We wereupposed to watch movies, but we decided not to watch here." Chaeyoung said after she caught her breath. "We?" The older girl repeated. "New friends. Had them when I joined a club." Chaeyoung smiled. "How about you, hyung? What brings you here?" She continued. "Uh.. just gonna meet someone." Jeongyeon almost stuttered. "What? Like your girlfriend?" Chaeyoung teased her. "Just.... someone." Jeongyeon replied shortly. "You can tell anything to me, hyung. You know that." Chaeyoung patted her shoulder.
Jeongyeon just stood there and looked at Chaeyoung, as if she wants to tell something to her. "Everything alright, hyung?" Jeongyeon shook her head. "Yeah, I'm fine. I gotta go, Chae. Bye." Jeongyeon walked away, not even looking back at Chaeyoung.
Weird.
Before going to Jinsoul's condo, they bought popcorn and chips along the way, since Jinsoul haven't really gone to the groceries for a month.
"Welcome to our humble home." Jinsoul said as she opened the door, showing the luxurious condo.
They all went in and Chaeyoung was looking around, astonished. Her condo doesn't compare to hers, but she's not envious or anything. Chaeyoung can buy a condo like this, too, but she chose the simple one.
"Err, may I ask why the kitchen has black stains?" Chaeyoung asked. It bothers her since the walls are pastle yellow. "Remember what I said earlier about Chaewon burning the house?" Sooyoung smirked. Chaeyoung let out a giggle after knowing what she meant. "Fuck you too, Sooyoung unnie." Chaewon said from the living room.
They were all settled on the big couch, cuddling their blankets, feeling comfy and relaxed.
"What do you all want to watch? Horror? Action? Thriller? Comedy?" Jinsoul asked as she browsed thru a hundred of movies in her flashdrive. "Romance!" Jiwoo beamed. "I need references for thr club's film." Jinsoul put her index finger on her chin. "Have y'all watched 50 First Dates?" Jinsoul asked, and they all shook their head in unison, except for Chaewon. "Let's start with this, then." Jinsoul clicked the remote and it started the movie.
After the first movie, they watched 500 Days of Summer, and The Notebook.
"The fuck Jinsoul, you don't have to hurt us like this." Sooyoung blowed her nose, and rubbing her eyes. "I'm not even broken hearted but I'm crying ugly here." Jiwoo cried out. Jinsoul let out a laugh but she, herself is also crying. "Alright how about Love, Rosie?" Jinsoul suggested. "Finally some comedic ass movie." Sooyoung snorts. Chaeyoung, on the other hand, was lost.
"What's the movie all about?" She asked the group. "It's about two bestfriends who had feelings for each other but didn't really confessed to each other since they value their friendship." Sooyoung gave the main points of the movie. "But they ended up together at the end!" Jiwoo budged in. "Babe! You just gave the most important part!" Sooyoung sighed. "I'm sorry." Jiwoo pouted. "It's fine, no worries." Chaeyoung smiled.
Two bestfriends having feelings for each other, huh?
They finished the movie and decided to go home since it was getting late.
"Thank you for today, Soulie. And please clean up your condo when you have time." Sooyoung teased her. "Oh please, your place is worse than ours." Jinsoul teased back. "I mean, she ain't lying, babe." Jiwoo giggled and Sooyoung just sighed deeply. "Y'all are attacking me like this huh." Jinsoul chuckled and turned to Chaeyoung. "It was nice to bond with you today, Chaeyoung! Hope to talk to you more at school." Chaeyoung grinned at Jinsoul, showing her dimple. "Of course! I also had fun today." They all hugged each other and went to their cars.
Even though she had a busy day, she still couldn't get over Mina ditching their friendly date last minute. Maybe it was that important that she needed to prioritize it?
Before entering her car, Chaeyoung saw a familiar figure. It resembles to Mina's... actually, she also looked like her. The girl was about to enter the hotel across the street where Chaeyoung was parking at.
"Mina unnie!" Chaeyoung shouted and ran. The moment she entered the hotel, the girl was already at the elevator which was about to close. Chaeyoung saw a glimpse of the girl's face and she can't be wrong. It was Mina. For the past years that they were together, she knows Mina in every way.
Chaeyoung called her, just to make sure that it was her. It rang a few times until Mina finally picked up.
"Chae, I'm sorry for not coming today. I really wanted to go but something really important came up."
"It's fine, unnie. I just wanna ask you something."
"What is it?"
"Where are you? Like, right now?"
"At home, why?"
"On your dad's house?"
"Yes, why?"
"Nothing... anyway, you might be busy. I don't wanna disturb you."
"Yeah I kinda am. See you tomorrow? I'll treat you lunch."
"Sure unnie. Bye."
Chaeyoung hung up the call with a heavy heart, sighing deeply before going back to her car.
Mina unnie... did she just... lied?
