"He's gonna kill me for letting you do this." she argued, sitting on the bed breastfeeding Alija.
"Shut up and feed the baby. If I leave him to do this I won't know where anything is and that isn't gonna help me relax." I countered.
"Daddy's gonna be mad when he sees you." Sam said, walking into the room.
"Don't criticize and help me before he gets back. We can make cookies after everyone leaves." I told her.
"Hey! I want cookies." Kaylee argued.
"Chocolate chip and sugar?" Sam asked.
"You got it, you know that your dad won't do this right and I'll just go crazy doing it afterward anyway." I replied.
"That's true, he doesn't really know what he's doing." Sam muttered.
"Hello! I'm still here, I want cookies." Kaylee said.
"You can get cookies if you stay for my game this weekend." Sam offered.
"I'm down, wouldn't miss it for the world." Kaylee said, hugging the child.
The guys were gone for about half an hour and by the time they got back the three of us had about 60% of the things unpacked.
"I thought I told you to keep your feet up and relax." Luke said when he walked into our room.
"I thought I would have this all done before you got back. You don't know how to arrange things the way that I like so I took care of it. Did you get my pizza?" I asked.
"Sam, Kaylee, I asked you to watch her." he complained.
"Have you tried saying no to her? Especially a pregnant her? I wasn't gonna risk it." Kaylee replied.
"You just don't know how to fix things, dad. I helped her put things away and fold because I can do it the way she likes. If I helped her do it now that means she wouldn't go do it while you were asleep." Samantha said.
"Go! Get out of here, both of you." Luke said, laughing.
"I'm hungry." I complained when Kaylee and Sam left.
"You should still be downstairs." he said, sitting on the newly fixed bed.
"I wanted to put our things away. I didn't get to everything but all of the babies' clothes are folded and in her dresser. Half of my clothes are put away and most of yours are in the closet, I've got to fold and put the dresser stuff away." I told him.
"Why didn't you put yours away first?"
"I have a. . ."
"A routine, I know, come on downstairs to eat." he said, kissing me.
"Give me your hand!" I said quickly.
"What why?"
"Give me your . . . there it is, you feel that?" I asked.
"Holy shit, finally! That's my girl." he said, cradling my belly and bending down to kiss it.
Our nameless baby for some reason refuses to move around or kick for her father. She moves all around in my belly when we're alone and kicks all of the time for her sister, aunts, and uncles but not for Luke. It's hilarious really when Sam feels her move and then Luke tries and the baby just stops moving.
"Look, you can see her foot pressing."
"Holy shit, this is amazing." he whispered, caressing my belly now.
"I can't wait to get her in her nursery, kind of. I don't think I'll ever be ready to let go."
"I can't wait to have her here, the nursery will just have to sit there and look pretty." he agreed.
He didn't let me see the nursery until today and it's beautiful. Light gray walls and furniture with shiny gold polka dots on the walls in no particular pattern. Pretty storage and a pretty flower pattern seat in the corner. The rocking chair is in our room for now but I'll take it to the nursery when I'm ready. If I'm ever ready to have her away from me.
Suddenly my stomach started to growl and that made Luke laugh at me.
"That's her way of telling you to move your ass downstairs." he told me.
"Okay, let's go. By the way, I really love the nursery."
"That's good, that's great actually. I wasn't sure about it but Lisa said that it would look great."
"Your sister knows . . . you're here!" I shouted when I saw her in the kitchen.
"I wouldn't miss this for the world." Lisa said.
"The nursery is beautiful." I said, hugging her.
"I'm glad that you like it. He was going crazy trying to figure out what to do."
"She was already up there putting things away." he complained, kissing his sister's cheek.
"No more of that, I'm here to stay until you have this baby. Starting tonight, you are to do nothing but relax and take it easy. You can tell me where you want things to go, I'll finish unboxing with Luke and Sam." she said, grabbing a slice of pizza.
"Thank you, Lisa. It's the most we can do to keep her off of her feet without having to tie her down." Kaylee said.
"That's my job." Luke winked.
"Dad!" Sam shouted.
"Thanks Lisa." Kay repeated.
"No problem, now where is that beautiful baby of yours?" she asked, rubbing her hands together.
"In the guest room, she's down for a nap."
"I'll eat my pizza and go wake her up." Lisa said, making us laugh.
We had a good family night, it was fun having everyone here. Mia is going to make the trip soon but wanted to wait for a little for the baby to be older. After the guys left everyone showered and went back down to the living room for a family movie night. Dom insisted on leaving and going home with Letty.
Kaylee, Tej, Ali, and Lisa spent the night here. Lisa made us all a big breakfast in the morning and then we started unpacking the rest of our things. I got a call that the poker table would be coming in early and I loved the look on Luke's face when he saw it. The basement will be his literal man cave, he's got a night picked out for the guys and some of his friends to come over and christen it. That night, I will be gone with Sam, we'll figure something out.
