Chapter 4

After showering for what felt like forever I walked back into the room to see my family there. Flowers and stuffed animals covered the room. I was tired, so tired, but so happy to see them. They were all fawning over Keilani with her big old bow headband in her big sister's arms.

"She's the cutest thing ever, look, they're best friends already." Kaylee said, holding Alija.

"Let me have my baby." I said, bringing attention to me.

"Not yet." Sam argued.

"Look at you, you're glowing." Tej said.

"Thank you, I feel like a new woman after the shower." I told him.

"I know how that feels, Mia's on her way, she should be here in about two hours. She'll be here, first thing in the morning." Kay said, hugging me.

"She's beautiful, isn't she?" I asked her, marveling at the beautiful thing I brought into the world.

"That she is, congratulations sis."

"I have a daughter, I pushed this thing out of me." I told her.

"Broke his fingers too, didn't you?" Dom asked.

"Three of them and they're sprained." Luke clarified.

"Got'em good." I said, sitting back on the bed.

"That you did, you're tired." he said, pushing my hair out of my face.

"I am but I'm so awake at the same time." I told them, yawning.

"I know the feeling, she's asleep now so take advantage and sleep. We'll come back in the morning with Mia." Kaylee said.

"Yeah, what she said. I'll take Sam home, she's not letting anyone hold Keilani." Lisa complained.

"She's my little sister, she needs to know me." Sam complained.

"She will, we'll see you in the morn . . ."

"I want to stay here." she interrupted.

"You won't let her sleep, and she needs . . ."

"I'll let her sleep, I'll sleep on the bed with her and make sure that she rests." she argued, getting up and handing me the baby.

"You can't stay here." Lisa argued with her niece.

"It's okay, Lisa, she can stay." I told her.

"You spoil her." she complained.

"Yes, yes I do, but it's okay."

"Alright, everyone out then because she needs to rest." Lisa ordered, ushering everyone away.

As tired as I am, I don't want to go to sleep. I'm not ready to close my eyes just yet.

"Are you hungry?" Lisa asked before leaving.

"I feel like I could eat a horse."

"I'm gonna go get you something to eat before I go home."

"Thank you."

My first night with Lani was stressful; I wanted to stay awake with her, that was my goal but sleep was demanding control of my body. I finally fell asleep at around 4 am and I was just dead to the world. I heard her while I was asleep though and that was something that worried me, but every time I woke up Luke helped me latch her onto my nipple and I just fell right asleep when she finished.

"Daddy, you have to be careful with her little feet." I heard Sam muttering.

"I know that Samantha, I know what I was doing." Luke argued.
