Chapter 20

HOBBS' POV

"We've got an army of cars driving themselves! Send backup! Send SWAT! I don't care if you sent the goddamn boy scouts. Just send us some help!"

"Now that's Penny." Kaylee said.

I looked over at Dom and he nodded, so everyone got into their vehicles and we all took off. My wife should be here with me while we take down the bad guys, not me going after her because she's the bad guy. Everyone keeps watching me and I understand it but I don't know how to accept it.

I'm the alpha male, I take care of the pack and now I'm floundering a little and it's because she isn't here. I can't lose her . . . I don't know how I would tell my girls . . . no, I refuse to accept it as a possibility. We drove down the New York streets to find my wife after she made all hell break loose. I've gone up against her once and I never wanted to do it again, there has to be a good ass reason for her to have done this. There has to be.

"Guys, I think I know where she's heading." Ramsey said.

Without God's Eye, we've had to get creative with our tracking but Ramsey is honestly our golden ticket to everything at this point. I listened as she gave us the cross street and headed there, not waiting for the rest of the team. This is where we take Penny home, where we find out what the hell she's doing this for.

We fanned out at the end of the street making sure that Penny had nowhere to go and waited for her to pull up. I heard the car before I saw her and the look on her face was unknown to me. It was a glare but smug at the same time. I've never seen her look like that before, and if I have it wasn't aimed at me so I didn't notice.

"Guys, I know why Penny's here. Police scanners are saying that she's stolen a nuclear football." Ramsey told us and I don't even know how to respond to that.

"Baby, what are you doing?" I muttered.

"Brother, we'll get her." Dom said, and more than anything in the world I pray that's true.

"It's over Penny, get your ass out of that car now." I said over the car's megaphone.

She just stared at us, revving her engine as if she does this every day. I need to take her home and she's just pushing us away. Shaw and Dom pulled up behind her and hopefully, they're the difference we need to get her. This is officially one of the worst moments of my life and there's nothing I can do to fix it. That burns more than anything else.

"That's how you want to play this? Let's play babe."

She watched us and feigned left, Little Nobody screwed it all.

"She's going for it." he said over the radio.

He took off and gave her the out she needed to get past us.

"What are you doing?" Letty shouted.

"It's a trap!" I growled.

After that, we all took off and it wasn't pretty. She did a lot of stupid and dangerous things, things that she would never have done in any other situation. Things that go against her family code but are necessary for this current situation in her eyes. Shit is about to hit the fan in a major way.

"Now I know what it feels like to be every cop ever chasing us." Tej shouted and I had to laugh, I've felt like this before.

"I'm gonna get a little closer and pit her." Little Nobody said, making me roll my eyes.

"Oh, so you're just gonna pin, Penny? Little Nobody has clearly lost his little mind." Roman replied.

"His timing is normally shit but sometimes he delivers." I muttered to myself.
