Abandoned Park

If you asked me, I would follow.

But for now, I just pretend.

'cause if anyone can make me fall in love,

You can.

Luke and Jai quietly snuck out the back door of their house without waking up Beau as they made their way to their favorite park.

It was an abandoned park that they both went to all the time to just go and talk about life. It was the place they swung on the swings together, the place that they had their first argument, the place that they danced in the rain, the place they went to escape the world, and most importantly it was the place that Luke asked Jai to be his one and only. So, to Jai this park was treasured forever.

They walked through the forest hand in hand and glanced up at the stars every now and then. Laughter echoed throughout the forest and the leaves blew softly along the ground so, it was comforting. When they got to the park, Jai ran to the swings and began to swing back and forth while Luke just watched and laughed.

"Come swing with me Luke!" Jai said and Luke walked over to the swing next to Jai and then they both swung while trying to hold each others hands. They swung higher and higher together and Jai swore he could touch the sky as he held Luke's hand. Once they got tired, they climbed up the steps of the slide and slid down so they could lay at the bottom of the slide. They laid there together and looked up at the sky as Jai laid his head on Luke's chest so he could hear Luke's heartbeat.

"Don't you love it here?" Luke said and Jai answered with,

"Yeah, it's like it's just us and no one else!"

"It is just us Jai." Luke laughed and Jai blushed.

After a moment of silence, Jai asked,

"Do you think we could ever forget about this place?"

"No way! This place is where all our greatest memories happen! I can't forget this place. I just can't and I promise I won't!" Luke told Jai.

"Can you name a memory that we've had here? I can name a billion!" Jai said.

"Of course! This is the place that I asked you to be with me forever. My one and only." Luke said with a smile. Jai's heart started to beat a million times faster and he couldn't help but blush and smile.

Luke got up from their comfortable position and went to grab a sharp rock. Jai just watched in confusion as Luke walked over to a tree at the entrance of the park and wrote, "My One and Only, Forever and Always" on it.

"This place is more than just a park, it's the place where our Forever began."

Luke said and Jai couldn't help but smile at the word, 'forever'.

Luke and Jai were just walking around outside throughout their neighborhood. Jai was secretly praying that maybe all these sights might look familiar to Luke. Nope. Luke looked at everything as if he's never seen anything like it before. Technically, Luke had seen it all before, he just can't remember any of it. That's what hurt Jai the most because, as Jai would relive wonderful memories in his head, Luke would only be creating them for the first time.

They passed by a rocky path that went to a place that only Jai remembered now. Jai looked down the path and saw that it lead through the forest, to a place where their forever began. Jai held in his tears as he reminded himself, that Luke didn't even know that the park existed. Luke stopped abruptly and stared down the rocky path trail.

"What's down there?" He asked. Jai didn't know if he should say, 'oh! It's the place where I became yours but, you don't remember!' or if he should say, 'it's just an abandoned park.'. So, Jai just said,

"Um...I can show you?"

Luke nodded and the two made their way down the rocky path through the forest. As they made their way through, laughter once again echoed throughout the forest like it once used to.

When they got to the park, Jai couldn't help but smile in hope that Luke remembered something, anything! Luke just looked around and made a confused face before saying,

"Um...this is just an abandoned park right? I don't ever remember coming here."

Jai's heart broke. Luke promised he wouldn't forget! Luke said he couldn't but, Then Jai remembered that not all Luke's memories would ever come back but, out of all their memories, Jai needed Luke to remember this one.

Jai looked down at his shoes and cried. Luke heard sobs next to him and snapped his head towards Jai. He engulfed Jai into a hug and let Jai cry into his chest.

"Why are you crying babe?" Luke asked.

"Y-you promised you wouldn't forget this place!" Jai cried. Luke couldn't bare watching Jai cry so, he looked around frantically to try and find something that would trigger his memory. He saw a tree right by the entrance and saw 'My One and Only, Forever and Always.' Engraved on it. Luke remembered something. He grabbed Jai by the shoulders and wiped away his tears.

"Is this the place where it all started? This is the place where you became mine. Am I wrong Jai?" Luke said.

"Please don't pretend Luke! If you don't remember, it's fine! I can't blame you. It's just an abandoned park." It hurt Jai to say that but, he'd rather say it, than feel as if Luke actually remembered when he was truly only pretending.

Luke grabbed Jai's hand, and led them both to the top of the playground so, they could both get a clear view of the entire park.

"Jai, I know that it hurts you to relive some days with me but, every time we do, I remember a little bit more. I want to ask you something if that's alright?" Jai could only nod.

"I've been with you for a very long time but, I can only remember a couple of days. Will you be my one and only again?"

Jai stood shocked and began to let happy tears roll down his face. He jumped on top of Luke and said,

"Forever and Always."

So, to Luke it was just and abandoned park that became the place where it all began a few moments ago. To Jai, it was a place with a million memories but, the only one that mattered to him was the one they were creating now.

"This place is more than just a park, it's the place where our Forever began."

Luke said and Jai couldn't help but smile at the word, 'forever'.
