Jake's POV

To say Finn was sad was an understatement. I can tell how much he misses (y/n). At night I can hear him cry out her name.

We didn't follow her, like she requested. But I had to hold him back. I know that he wants to find her, it keeps him up most night and when he sleeps it's only ever bad dreams.

I know they say time heals all wounds, but this is taking forever.

Finn and I are sitting at the kitchen table eating the breakfast I had just made.

"Hey buddy," I speak softly. "How about an adventure? We haven't gotten to kill a monster in a while,"

Finn doesn't respond. He just gazes into his glass of orange juice as if it has all the answers.

"Come on Finn, it always helps put your mind at ease,"

I'm grasping at straws here. If he doesn't say yes I won't know what else to do.

"Do you think we might see her?" He asks. His voice a mixture of sadness and hope.

Honestly, I hope to God we don't.

"Um..you never know, maybe,"

He finally looked up at me but I couldn't read his face.

"Okay, let me get dressed,"

I had a little party going on in my head. I finally am getting him out of the house. I go to the phone and called around, hoping to find an exciting adventure for us to partake in.

"Hey P.B! We are in desperate need of an adventure. You know anything we could do?"

There was a short pause while she thought.

"Actually, there was a strange case I heard about. Someone in a village not far from here got shot. They think it was an assassin, wanna check it out?"

"That sounds perfect!"

"Fantastic. I'll send the directions through,"

Finally, something fun to do.

Your POV

"(Y/n),"

A smooth voice called out to you.

"(Y/n), open your eyes,"

Slowly you opened your eyes. You were surrounded by tall, grass covered hills. Clouds covered the sun, leaving a grey shade.

"Hello?" You called out. How did you even get here? You fell asleep in a tree right?

"Welcome (y/n)," the calming voice spoke again.

"Where am I? How do you know my name?"
This was beginning to alarm you.

"I know all about you, but don't be alarmed. You and I were meant to be together. After all, you came when I called,"

Hang on a second.

"The journal?"

"That's correct my dear. You see, currently you are asleep, high up in a tree. This, right here, is my very own dream state. A place where we can meet and talk,"

"This is a dream?"

"Yes. As soon as we make a pact, you can come here whenever you like. Your very own secret oasis,"

"How do I make a pact with you?"

"First I want to be able to access your mind, be able to see your memories. I know a lot about you but I could know so much more,"

The voice spoke with a need.

"You might have heard me talking to you earlier, correct?"

"That was you?"

"Indeed, I think we make a great team,"

He helped me kill Albert. Oh boy.

"What else do you want?"

"I want you to give me permission to see you. Currently I am a disembodied voice, but with your permission, I can take my form. It would only be inside your mind though, no one but you will see me,"

That seems reasonable enough. He wants a form.

"Is that everything?"

"Indeed it is. Those are what you must agree to in order to create a pact. You are alone traveler, but I guarantee I will be the only friend you will ever need,"
He paused for only a brief moment of time but when he spoke again, it was like a whole new voice. It turned determined and laced with venom.
"So, are you in,"

Startled by the quick change is attitude, you gave a quick and easy answer.

"Yes,"

With a jolt, you woke up.
You were still high up in the tree. Was it all a crazy dream? Your breathing was fast. As you slowed your breath, you turned and grabbed the journal. Hesitating before picking it up in your hands.

You turned it around and looked at its lock, before grabbing onto it. Giving it a little tug, it came open.

So it wasn't a dream.

"Quite right my dear," the voice echoed into your head, making you jump and frantically look around.

"Journal?" You whispered.

"Is that what you're going to call me? Come on (y/n), you can think of a better name than that,"

"You want me to name you?" You asked, still only whispering.

"I belong to you, it's only right you give me a suitable name,"

You began thinking of a name that would perfectly suit his voice.

"How about..Calserva?"

"Hmm, I like it. Calserva. Indeed this name must be mine,"

You couldn't help but grin, he was amusing.

"Alright, well I think it's time to start my day,"

You placed Calserva away and put your bow and arrows onto your back. You jumped down and looked around before placing your new outfit's hood on and making your way into a new town.

Jake's POV

Finn and I were finally out of the house and on our way to the town Princess Bubblegum had told us about.
Finn still looked distant, but I could see the faint glimmer of excitement as we drew nearer and nearer.

On arrival, the town seemed almost empty. It was quiet. The towns folk were probably too scared to wander the streets.

"Okay Finn. The house is just up ahead,"

It was a small house, painted a light blue with a front garden.

We walked past the guards and straight into the house.

There, in a small armchair, sat the victim. His head was down and his book abandoned on the floor. In his chest, an arrow sat.

"This would have been quick, at least he didn't suffer,"
