"Okay, let's trace all the things we know, maybe we can use them to figure out where she went," I suggested to Jake as we made our way to the victim's house. Last time we were here, we had only found a few muddy prints in the tree near the window. Determined to find (y/n) though, we began searching again, looking for anything that might lead us to her.

After a bit of time, and us getting interrupted by the sun rise, we stopped.

"Find anything?" Jake questioned. I just shook my head. "Well, it's morning now, that means we can question the towns people," He spoke, trying to cheer me up. Nodding in agreement, I began looking at our surroundings,

"Okay, you go around the town asking if anyone knows anything, and I'll go to the markets, talk to the venders and see what they know. Meet back here in an hour,"

"Sounds good to me," Jake encouraged, and with a fist bump, we were on our way.

I eagerly ran off to the small part of town that was dedicated to the many different market stalls/tents. The sun was completely up and the stall owners had nearly finished setting up shop. I made my way to the entrance of the area and made my way to the first stall. An old lady sat behind a table covered in baked breads.

"Good morning, deary, after some freshly made bread?" She asked as she rocked back in forth in her chair.

"Not currently sorry, I was wondering if you had happened to sell anything to an outsider the other day,"

"We get a lot of outsiders son, what did she look like?"

"Oh..uh, she is about this tall-" I raised my hand a little lower than my height "and has (e/c) eyes. She would have been wearing a green archers outfit,"

I waited in hope as he old lady began to stroke her chin in thought. After a little bit of time she shook her head no.

"Oh, well thanks anyway," I waved as I went straight onto the other stalls. People were selling anything from baked goods to weapons, and I had talked to well over half of the people with still no luck.

I let out a sigh as I got told for what felt like the hundredth time, they hadn't seen her. It had been a little over an hour and I had to meet back up with Jake. As I slowly made my way back through the long lines of tents, I kept my head down, kicking rocks with my shoe. This was such a waste of time.

I was nearly at the exit when I was stopped.

"Pssst! Hey!"

My head slowly rose as I looked around to see who was calling.

"Traveler! Over here!" His voice was like an urgent whisper. I turned around to see a sketchy looking man waving me over to where he was standing. I cautiously made my way over to where he was.

"Greetings traveler," He spoke while rubbing his hands together. "There's been chatter that you're looking for someone,"

I nodded. Eager for any clues that could help. "Yes! Do you know where she went?" I asked.

The man shook his head, but still had a greasy grin on his face. "I do not, but I have something you might be interested in,"

I watched as the man ducked into a little box that was next to him and pull out a scroll.

"This, traveler, is a seeking scroll, it can help you find whoever you are after,"

"How does it work?"

His grin grew as he explained "It's simple really, unravel the scroll and place an object of the missing person's in the centre. Then it's a matter of chanting a simple incantation, and burning the corner of the map. The paper will burn and the parts that remain untouched by the fire is where your missing person is,"

"And it properly works? No catches?"

"No catches, just a small fee,"

Oh, of course "How much?"

"How much are you carrying?"

I opened my bag and pulled out a small leather pouch. I emptied it into my hand and showed the man. "About 4 gold coins, a button and some pocket lint," I replied while holding them out to him so he could see.

"Yeah, good enough," The man quickly snatched the contents from my hand and practically threw the paper scroll at me. "May the map find your missing person,"

I glanced at the man as I placed the map in my bag and went to find Jake.

I walked to where we said we would meet and saw him pacing.

"Hey man," I greeted. His head shot up to look at me and his tail stuck up.

"Finn! It's been and hour and a half, I nearly went in there looking for you!"

"Sorry Jake, find anything?" I asked.

He just shook his head. "These towns people are pretty stupid, they couldn't even tell me what day it was,"

I chuckled as we began walking out of the town.

"Well lucky for you, I did find something,"

"Really?! Someone actually knew where she was?"

I shook my head and grabbed out the scroll I had just bought. I watched as Jake's face became more and more skeptical.

"This is a seeking scroll, it uses magic to find missing things. We just have to get something of hers and we can start," Jake took the scroll from me and began to look it over.

"Dude, I hate to burst your bubble but this looks just like an ordinary map," I snatched it back and looked at it. It did just look like a map of Ooo. Did I just get tricked?

"Maybe we have to do the incantation, then it will work," Jake gave me a skeptical look as we kept walking out of town and into the forest that led us back to the treehouse. "It's worth a try, we were getting nothing from that town,"

"Wait, you said we needed something of hers? Do we even have anything?" He questioned.

Crap. I began to think about anything she may have left behind in her rush to leave, then it hit me. I pulled my bag off and began rummaging through it. As soon as my hand hit something, I pulled it out.

"Her arrow!" I half shouted out of victory "We can use this,"

Once we got back to the tree house, I cleared a table and unrolled the scroll into it. Carefully, I placed her arrow in the middle and began chanting the incantation, all while Jake stood at a distance, he wasn't the biggest fan of magic.

After the chant was complete, I lit a match and placed it on the corner, watching as the map slowly took fire, a black smoke rose from the corner and engulfed the arrow. The wind outside began to pick up, causing the tree to rock slowly.

"Finn! This seems bad!" Jake shouted over all the noise.

"No! It's working, just wait a little longer!" I shouted back.

The black smoke slowly began to clear and revealed that the arrow was no longer there. It was only a second before the fire from the corner burst up, creating a large roar of flames. Jake was quick to action as he stretched his arms around me and quickly pulled me to where he was.

We watched as the fire spread across the map before it vanished. Not even smoke was left.

I waited a second before I slowly got out of Jake's stretchy arms and moved towards the table. He was not far behind as we crept closer.

There on the table was the burnt up map, and just like the creepy vender said, a small circle of it was untouched by the flames.

It was not too far from where we were.

"Oh my glob," I half whispered out. "It worked,"
