YOUR EYES FLUTTERED OPEN to a certain mismatched haori hanging lifelessly over the changing screen beside yours. it was swaying ever so slightly from the soft wind seeping through the ajar window. the moon peeked through the curtains, which left a patterned shadow over your room. you felt goosebumps start to spread across your exposed arm from the chilled air. you retracted your arm inside the blanket lying on top of you and your partner.
you don't know exactly why you woke up, but you sighed and changed your position to face the ceiling. you mentally cursed the fact that you've been waking up constantly during the night. you turned your head to the right and saw a peaceful giyuu sleeping next to you. his body was enveloped by the thick blanket and several strands of his raven hair fell on his face.
a tiny smile crept on your face. you moved to lay on your side to face him. the cold breeze hitting you both made you shiver a bit and you moved closer to him, trying your best not to wake him. as of now, you were only inches apart from each other. you felt his rhythmic breathing heat your face, which made you wrap your arms around his torso in an attempt to warm yourself up from the chilly air.
giyuu's strong arms hugged you back out of instinct as you snuggled into his chest. the sound of his raspy voice startled you a bit when he asked, "are you cold?".
you meekly nodded your head and hugged him a little bit tighter than before. you felt his hands rubbing your arms and back to warm you up. you hummed in contentment when you started to feel the warmth come onto you again.
you both stayed in that position for a few minutes until you rose your head up to give him a gentle kiss on the cheek. it was a 'thank you' for keeping you warm.
you saw a light blush creep upon his face while he only pulled you closer to his body. he gave you a quick peck on the forehead as well, before he fell back asleep. you gazed at him for a few more moments, thanking God for bringing you two together before falling asleep yourself.
you two laid that way for the rest of the night. soft snores emitting from both of you as you embrace each other, enjoying the warmth.
but little did you two know, your assigned kasugaigarasu crow would be rudely awakening you and giyuu from your slumber.
