"OH, HONEY,"
"THAT WAS YOUR THIRD try, yet, your poison still doesn't work on me." the serpent demon taunted, instantly healing the slim cut the insect hashira landed in her scaled collarbone. at this, the woman retreated a few paces back, scowling before regaining her composure.
tired and worn-out, the hashira strategized a new plan, scanning her surroundings. she knew her opponent to be an uppermoon, one of muzan's direct underlings. her kanji read uppermoon six inside those forest green slitted eyes.
"i'm sorry, love. really, i am!" the demon stretched out her flaky arms as if to demonstrate how remorseful she claimed to be. "i'm sure you've worked hard on your little weapon. sadly, it was all for naught!" the demon feigned heartbreak, clutching her chest over her cold, lifeless heart lying still in her compacted ribcage.
'how sad,' the vile creature tilted her head, tracking the movements of the smaller woman ahead of her. the demon swiftly dodged the purpled eyed woman's thrusting attack -not before slashing the hashira's forearm with abnormally sized claws, slithering into a safer spot among the trees. 'she's cute, too! what a shame,' the insect breather grimaced, gripping her blood-soaked arm tightly in her quivering hand, poison infested sword in the other. her posture slouched, already infected arm dangling involuntarily.
'dammit! she's too fast! and my poison isn't working on her -' the young woman's enraged eyes froze, tiny body trembling in fear. she was suddenly aware of her rapid heartbeat pounding deafeningly in her ears, an unknown substance circulating throughout her veins that seem to burst any second. the hashira took a feeble step backward, back colliding with a tree. frantic eyes darted around the neverending forest before landing on a crooked smile, glowing by the presence of the eerie moon. the woman could no longer identify who that mischievous grin belonged to.
the hashira's mind began to grow foggy, but all the woman could think of was to even out her breathing. clutching her head in an attempt to ease the pain the throbbing headache presented, the clashing sound of her wisteria infested sword greeting the ground brought her back to reality. she could feel whatever fluid was manifesting inside her frail body was making her movements sluggish.
the slick serpent sported a sly smirk, satisfied with the effect her poison had on the insect hashira. 'her body reeks of wisteria, but my poison has finally done a number on her. normally slayers don't usually last this long. impressive, this one's special.'
the young woman's weak body skidded down the bark, bottom crashing into the ground, head slowly rolling to meet the welcoming sky.
the view was abruptly snatched away, for the demon halted above the struggling hashira, kneeling over and delicately caressing her flushed cheeks. "you poor thing," the snake tutted, gliding her tainted claw upon her cheekbone.
the hashira could no longer breathe. the poison has completely swelled the woman's throat to where you could only hear painful gasps and strained wheezes over the tranquil night.
dull, violet hues met slitted emeralds, boring daggers into her sickly features. with scraps of strength, the woman's pale hand extended to reach for her katana - a last-minute resort of salvation.
amusement swirled within the demon's piercing orbs, shaking her head at her futile attempt of victory. she leaned over to her ear, stilling her constrained gasps and cries, "shh, doll, you're alright," she gripped the woman's wrist tight, weapon freed from the weak hold, "you're alright."
"you fought valiantly, dear. you had me breaking a sweat," the serpent joked, kicking the sword far away from their proximity. the woman's struggles were dying down, muffled groans slowly coming to a forever pause.
a slender, scaled finger ghosted over the hashira's neck. "i've taken a liking to you, you know. now that i think about it, it might be your eyes," another finger pulled down her eyelid, revealing a somber amethyst eye that was once full of pure malevolence and venom. once full with a determination of annihilating the cunning creature before her. now, they remain a hopeless hue.
"you know what they say...
...the eyes are the gateway to the soul."
oh, how this particular demon loved suppressing the will of these unfortunate slayers. watching their chance of success being snatched away from them was utter satisfaction to her monotonous day to day life. especially when she forced them to her submission, bending them over to her will.
'but this particular slayer is different, remember? she's a hashira, one of the highest-ranking swordswomen. she would make an interesting pet, wouldn't you say?' the demon asked herself. living for centuries meant resorting to countless of ways coping with loneliness. her subconscious became a friend to her for as long as her deceived mind could recall.
the finger that soundlessly hovered behind the hashira's neck had started to sharpen. a pointed fingernail began to leak a unique type of liquid before slicing a tiny incision in the woman's exposed neck, poison seeping into the fresh wound.
the woman stayed silent, eyes permanently shut as her head rested on the tree behind her. her body involuntarily spasmed before retreating back to its quiet, dying state.
the demon crouched patiently, withdrawing her poison infested fingernail to her bent side. an invigorating tint shone in her slitted eyes, eager for what's to come.
all of a sudden, the hashira's veins protruded out from under her very skin, bursting in ways that shouldn't be. various abnormal colors swam underneath her pale surface, prompting her body to convulse violently. the viper couldn't help but smile, savoring the sight of the poor woman succumbing to the poison.
the hashira's bloody hands nimbly grasped onto tufts of grass, wishing to ground herself from the pain, but ultimately stilled.
she sent a silent goodbye to her friends and family at the corps.
slowly but surely, the young woman's eyes reopened, life poured back into her fragile body. almost robotically, her amethyst eyes connected with the demons. the large slash that littered her arm healed, flesh mending together with ease.
the smile that stretched the demon's face continued to grow inhumanly wide, fangs bearing. she stretched forth her clawed hands to cup the rejuvenated woman's face.
"what's your name, darling?" the demon asked, thumb caressing her cheek.
"shinobu kocho," the woman replied. her voice held no emotion.
the serpent was satisfied, to say the least. she managed to recruit a new toy to her collection. another doll to play with. and for her newest friend to be a now-former hashira? this night couldn't get any better. it didn't help that the woman before her was attractive either. maybe she'll make this one her significant other. 'the others have gotten boring, haven't they?'
the demon leaned toward shinobu's ear, chanting the phrase that permanently sealed the woman's fate forever.
"you're mine."
