Monday rolled in like early morning fog as I headed off to school in gray sweats and a comfortable shirt. What's the use in coming to hell in your fanciest attire when your weekend was a total bummer? None.

"Be back around 5:00pm, Dad. Going over to see Jade,” I yell to him before rushing out the door.

"Alright. Have fun!” he yells. I scurry down the street to the bus. Is it not pathetic that I don't have a vehicle yet, even though I'm a senior? Rhetorical question. But, the answer is yes. It's quite sad.

It rained overnight so the sidewalks are slippery. I try to avoid the puddles on the side of the concrete despite the fact that I want to play in the rain instead of go to school. This is my last year. Then high school is over. Soon I’ll be applying to a school in Illinois and then, boom. I’ll take my ACT’s, send in applications; unprepared for the stress it brings though.

Radian jumps at the sight of me, seen as how I've avoided riding the bus as much as possible.

"Bro! Where ya been? We missed you!” he says as he gestures around the bus. No one even responds. I laugh internally for their lack of acknowledging him. He stands dumbfounded, but quickly recovers.

"Anyways, how about you and Angela? Thought you guys had a thing? She good in bed?” he asks me enthusiastically. Clearly, this is the perfect example of how boys have crazed hormones, only filled with the thought of sex. I never thought much on the topic. It seemed to be one of those things you earned, not just handed because you were of the male population.

I roll my eyes, shooting him a disgusted look. "Even if she was, I'd never tell you. Girls aren't objects on a shelf. Respect them or else you'll have hell to pay."

I squeeze past him and sit down in seat 18, shoving my headphones in and blocking out his intruding voice to my music.

Gliding past groups of people, I head for my locker where I find Jade leaning against comfortably, our every day schedule.

"Hey, punk. Been waiting long?” I ask before unlocking my locker quickly.

"Just about forever. Took long enough.” she says winking at me. I smile at her in response before linking my arm in hers.

"Meet me out front after school."

I backtrack to this weekend. I need to check on Angela. Jade may be bothered by it, but I can't pretend like I don't care about her because then I'd just be lying to myself.

"I don't think I can."

She looks at me confused before I say, "I have to go see if Angela is alright. She was pretty torn up yesterday."

Jade glares at me. "What? I can't just be a douchebag to her. You know I can't do that." Her expression softens before she nods.
