"What do you mean?" Dean was the first one to speak up after what seemed like an eternity.
Why did Gabriel ask that? It was clear that he was joking, but still.

Cas hasn't told him about his crush on Dean yet, and he didn't have the purpose to. Still, he knew that it was the right thing to do. Just so that Gabe didn't say something similar again, making Castiel even more uncomfortable.

Gabriel ignored Dean's question and got into the car, motioning for the others to do the same. "We'll meet at Cas'. See You!"

He drove off with Sam in his passenger seat, leaving Castiel and Dean alone again.

"Maybe I should bring Lisa so your brother doesn't mistake us for a couple again."

Ouch.

Castiel coughed awkwardly and walked to his car before Dean could say anything else. Sadly, the drive didn't really take long and soon, all of them met again.

Castiel led them all into his appartment and immediately started cooking. He had promised a delicious, home-made meal and he didn't want to break the promise just because his heart has been shattered into a thousand pieces. During the few days he's known Dean he adjusted to the fact that Dean would never be his. But the comment he'd made earlier really hurt Cas.

"Soo..." Gabriel started when the food was ready. Cas had managed to bake a pizza whose dough was so fluffy and airy and whose topping was so tasty that everyone ate at least five big pieces.

The silence had no chance against Gabriel and all his questions. You could always count on this nosy brother. "Why were you at school on a Saturday?"
Because Dean was still chewing, Castiel decided to speak for the both of them.

"We had some work left because we both announced a test next week and we had to write them."

"Ugh I hate tests!" "They're okay, and they're necessary, Gabe." Sam's rough, deep voice reminded Castiel of Dean's. The brothers had so many similarities but they were so different from each other. Normally, one couldn't see that they were related. But when you got closer to them, you would begin to notice how much alike they really were.

Dinner was over rather quickly, just as quickly as Dean was buzzed. The others didn't drink much, but the green-eyed, stunning beauty managed to sneak a bottle of Whisky into the appartment and he just had to drink it.

Shortly before the couple left, Gabriel pulled Cas to the side, out of earshot of the others.

"You like him, huh?" "Of course, he's my friend..."
Gabriel hit Castiel's shoulder hard, making Cas frown and rub the spot.

"What?" "I mean like like." "That's none of your business." Another slap. "Could you stop hitting me?"

"I see potential here. Just don't screw it up." "I will screw it up if I tell Dean. Just don't say anything, I can watch out for myself."

With these words, Cas disappeared into the kitchen to do the washing-up, leaving Dean alone in the hallway after Gabriel and Sam had left.

"Can I help you?" Dean's voice was so quiet and vulnerable, it didn't sound like Dean at all. Nevertheless, Castiel smiled and answered.

"It's okay, I'm almost done." Castiel put away the last plate and moved over to his friend. He could see that Dean was struggling with standing and his eyes were glassy and red.
