Chapter 21

Today is the last day of school before Christmas and evereyone is mentally already out of school.

I'm sitting in Math between Ally and Chiara, with Lucas and Ben in front of us. They had turnd their chairs around to face us and "to finish our task in group work".

Mr Blackthorne didn't mind as long as we wouldn't be too loud.

"I know right? It's amazing and I still can't belive that my mother allowed me to go. I'm so excited and can't wait to spent some time alone with him."
Chiara says and already seems far away.

"I thought his parents would be there too? Didn't you tell your parents that you would join the family vacation?"

Ben asks and we all look at Chiara in confusion because that was what she had been telling all of us.

"Chiara Blaire Rigsby. Did you lie to us?"
I mock my best friend and see her cheeks becoming a little red.

"I had to. If my parents would have known, they never would have given me permission to go to skiing in Utah with my boyfriend. So I told everyone that his family would be there too. But his older Brother Cole and his girlfriend Louise are in the cabin right next to us. So we are not compleatly alone. Sorry that I lied to you."

"Don't worry about it Chiara but don't you dare and come back pregnant. Always use protection okay?"

Chiara rolls her eyes and sights.

"Yes Mom. Just because you can't get pregnant when you have sex with the one you love, doesn't  mean you always have to lecture me about safety. But I can reassure you, we are going to be careful. Satisfied?"

Everyone laughs and Mr. Blackthorne shushs us down.

"Only one great benefit of being gay." I whisper what causes giggles from my friends.

We continue talking about our plans for the holidays until we get disturbed by a loud noise. Everyone looks at us and I quickly pull out my cellphone.

"Mr. Blackthorne, may I answer this call please? It's my sister's doctor."

"Okay, put please keep it short."

I answer the phone and the doctor tells me that Isabella shows sings of waking up.

So I explain that to my teacher and he allows me to leave school early to go to the hospital.

I say goodbye to my friends, promise to text them as soon as I know something and quickly make my way out of school to my car, where I send Fiona a short text massage.

Arriving at the hospital, she is already waiting for me in the parking lot and after a short kiss, we hurry up to Isabella's room, where we are met with some doctors who explain to us, that she had moved her hand a couple of times and that her eyelids were fluttering, like she tried to open them. They also warn us to be careful and gentel with her.

I look at my phone before we go in and see a text from my Dad, saying that they are stuck in traffic and I should already go to Isabella.

I slowly open the door to her room and go in, with Fiona holding my hand. She asked me earlier if I wanted her to come with me and I simply told her, that I needed her.

So now we are both standing in front of her bed and see how her eyelids are fluttering.

Fiona pulls a chair to the bed and makes me sit down on it. I don't really know what to do, am to scared that I might do something wrong or that she might dissappear right in front of me. Fiona stands behind me and rests her hands on my shoulders and only now I realize, that I am shaking. With my girlfriends touch, I am able to calm down a little and carefully take Isabella's hand in mine.
