Trust Issues

Bang!

I shoot my last bullet of the day. I lower my hands and sigh with contentment. I turn to Brandon and smile. Brandon eyes me from top to toe and smirks, he gets up from his seat and asks, "Tell me, Taylor, did you ever get any shooting lessons before?"

I keep my earmuffs and goggles in their respective cases. "No, it's my first time and you are my first tutor," I said while we were proceeding towards the exit.

"Yeah, I can get that, your shooting skills are like what it should be on the first day, but your confidence is of a gold medal winner."

I laugh and we get in the lift. An awkward silence engulfs us.

Why are we not talking?

Suddenly Brandon speaks, "Taylor, did you just got crushed on me in the gym today?" He askes, a smirk playing on his lips.

I looked at him with narrowed eyes and mentally prepared myself to tell the truth, "There is a term made by me called 'Instantaneous Crush' which means having a crush on a person just for a couple of seconds. The reasons behind it might be their looks, style of walking, voice, way of talking or even weirder, their profession. And you were my Instantaneous Crush." I say this looking at his face to see any reaction, but the smirk on his face has no intention to leave.

"So you are trying to say I look good or have a nice voice or have any or all of the other qualities you just said?" Brandon asked, folding his hand on his chest.

"Maybe," I say shrugging my shoulders.

Why is it taking so long for the lift to go down?

"Maybe! I thought I look cute." Brandon said making a fake puppy face.

I rolled my eyes and said, "Ok Brandon, let's get this clear, I am not interested in you. You are like 4/ 5 years older than me I suppose and you shouldn't be interested in me too unless you are a pedophile."

The smirk vanished from his face, he felt insulted as I called him a pedophile, the look on his face showed that.

"Huh! Why will I be interested in you? I already have a girlfriend." Brandon said with a straight face.

I smiled and then made a fake expression showing pity, keeping a hand on my chest, "Oh! Poor girl, I feel so bad for her. She has to tolerate you almost every day."

Brandon sighs and then asks me, "When you signed your contract with NIA, did you go through it thoroughly?"

Wow! that was a quick jump on another topic!

"Well, my dad had already read it before me, so I didn't bother to read that thick stack of paper before signing it," I said shrugging my shoulder.

He turned his head sharply towards the side and looked at me with a mixture of expressions, shock, sadness and a bit of pity.

"Although nothing can be changed now as you have already signed the paper, I will recommend you to read the whole paper carefully," Brandon said in a serious tone. I look at him with confusion.

He is not trying to scare you, he is serious.

The lift made a ding sound signaling that we have reached the parking. I get out of the lift with confusion swirling in my mind. I see my dad in the car and proceed towards him but then I slow down my pace and look back at the lift to see Brandon looking at me with a straight face. The doors of the lift close slowly as I get the last glimpse of Brandon for the day. I enter the car and dad greets me with a smile. He starts the engine and as we pass through different colored neon lights of the city I mentally make to note to check the contract immediately after going home. That look on Brandon's face was serious enough to make me have trust issues with my dad.
