The sounds of serpents passing could be heard from the halls. Roxanna sat anxiously listening from her little corner. She'd occasionally looked up to eye the group of people, feelings torn of species. She needed to get out of here, and soon. Her thoughts were interrupted as the soldier named Ryan sat down next to her. Roxanna huddled closer to the corner trying to keep away from any contact. She eyed him warily. He began speaking to her in a hushed tone.
"So what's your story girl." He asked, he leaned his head against the wall. She studied his face, she could see he was weary. "Why are you with the pack of predators?" He finally looked at her lazily.
Roxanna looked at him questioning. "Predators?"
He shrugged. "I'm a marine remember, this isn't the first time I've seen these beings, the men usually call them "the predators" upon story telling. You know hunting people, killing, taking trophies...your own kind? So why would you be with them." His blue eyes searched her face hard.
Roxanna sat and pondered a answer for a long time. She began telling bits and pieces on what happened on her old home, trying not to give to much details. He still asked her why again. Frustration mounted within her. She thought hard on a response. She recalled a lecture from Nina and Tatsu, trying her best to put both together. "Listen, there can be monsters in both species. Sadly this facility proved to show that monsters of the human race who did terrible things to another woman in the clan; but now you get to run into monsters from their race too. Caught in a civil war really." She shrugged and then recited Nina's lecture. "Does the wolf apologize when he stands on top? Should the lion say his grace when he takes his mark? The hurricane doesn't step aside when it hits the coast. The mountain won't fall to its knees when the west wind blows. A yautja is a Warrior and a proud race, and can be honorable." She turned her glance at the other people. "I do what I need to what I have to, to survive. And you can try to be civilized but I'm gonna stay alive, and that means getting back to the clan. Sooner or later I'm going to get out of this room....one way or another before death comes clawing at the door." She looked back at him sternly.

Ryan sat quiet for a moment before sitting forward. "That's what I thought. If there's one thing I've learned is those predators you call friends are some tough sons of bitches. Listen, I don't want to die here for this god forsaken company.... I have a wife and son waiting for me at home. If I were to help you get out of here would you be able to grant me safety and get me home?" His voice was almost a whisper and he looked cautiously up from time to time at the others.
Roxanna looked at him surprisingly. "I can't promise your survival, but it may be favorable for you to assist my clan, and helping me back to my...my mate." She blushed. "He may spare you due to assisting me." He made no comment to her confession. She began to feel the adrenaline pumping through her veins again.
"That's better than nothing, I know I have a low chance of survival in this room. No offense but you may be my ticket of getting home." He shrugged getting to his feet. He took a deep breath. She stood after him as he began walking towards the group. He walked to a bag sitting close to one of the other marines, prominently opened the bag and grabbed Roxanna's biomask and other small weapons and threw them towards her.
Ryan never hesitated as his comrades stood up. He pulled a pistol from under his jacket and fired. Roxanna watched the little red dot his weapon projected bounce across the heads of the three marines. They went down, their own weapons clattering quietly on the soft floor, he was using a stun gun. The last Marine the biggest man, rolled and came up in some kind of martial arts stance, facing him. Ryan tucked his weapon away. The orderly moved in and swung a shocker baton like it was a sword. Dodging to his left, he slapped the man's outstretched arm to one side, and punched him low on the ribs. The man grunted, made as if to turn and swing the shocker again, and Ryan kicked the man, hitting the side of his knee with the edge of his boot. Roxanna heard the man's knee crack as something gave in it. His leg folded and he dropped, but Ryan pulled his foot back and thrust it out again, smashing his heel into the man's head. Causing him to fly sideways and slam into the wall.
One of the lab coats began yelling. "What the fuck are you doing marine!" Horror stricken on her face.
Ryan payed no mind and popped the ventilation system open, and looked over at the now geared up Roxanna. "We go through here." He bent down and retrieved all of the other marines guns and weapons and geared up himself. He assisted his now small partner up into the vent and waved heartlessly at the now frightened scientists and climbed up, leaving them to their doom as the sound of the hoard could be heard scratching at the door.
