Wahkan walked out of the Elder council's house, the clan behind him. Many Yautja seen the pale thwei on the clan members. Shock and disruption spread through the crowd. Wahkan removed his biomask and raised his fist in the air for silence.
"Our culture is not merciless killers, we do not want to dominate the galaxy. We have always been a society with rules in place and these rules are meant to keep order and balance amongst everyone. A yautja must abide by these rules! As many know I am a descendent from one of the original bloodlines who founded these rules. I believe it is time to recite our laws and code of honor." Wahkan's voice boomed into the crowd. "Before I begin I will speak on to why I feel it's necessary to remind you all of the rules and laws! Through my journey to becoming a clan leader I had stumbled upon a ooman, Nina. Throughout that time that ooman had saved my own life, befriended me, earned her right to wear the clans marking, and is loyal to the Yautja. In turn I had chosen her as my mate." The crowd began to chatter again, Wahkan held up his hand for silence once more. "To many yes I understand this is a perversion, tainting the species. I too have thought of such things when I had first entertained the idea of mating a ooman. I shall ease your minds of letting be known no offspring that come from such a pairing will be aloud to ruling status. Let us not forget there has been other oomans to join our clans in the past, they can adapt to our ways. Elder Akin had been so outraged by the matter that she took it upon herself and plotted with my sire the Emperor. Who in turn unlawfully abducted my mate and our clan member! Who had been beaten tortured and raped! This is not our ways! Emperor and sire aside, I would not stand for such a crime as a true Yautja. His time as our leader was over. That still did not stop the Elders from pursuing my clan across the galaxy! They called on criminals and abominations the Bad Bloods to hunt us down and try to exterminate myself my mate and clan. In doing so they broke our laws even to the extent of using our most formidable prey kiande amedha like dogs! Let me make this clear to all, does this mean we will take Oomans off of our worthy prey list? Certainly not! We have hunted their species since almost the beginning of their civilization. Now let us review our laws!
We must hunt worthy prey that is a threat to others lives, and is armed and able to defend itself. One must never hurt the innocent. If they are no threat to anyone then they are not worthy prey. This includes unarmed targets, children, or one who is dying from sickness. Akane and her troops had decimated a colony of ooman's, children, elderly! Disgusting behavior from a true Yautja. This is where we adopted another ooman into our clan, Roxanna. Who later proved her worth to bear our clans marking.
One must never claim the kill or trophy of another, stealing is seen as being too weak to kill the prey yourself. If we are to hunt for food, we are to only kill the weak. This is meant to keep the strong members alive. If a hunter is defeated in a hunt then they must take their own lives. One must keep their honor by dying in combat instead of living with the shame of defeat. If this hunter does not kill itself it then may be assisted by someone else.
If a target has been wounded by another hunter then it must be left to die from those injuries; but if this prey still shows attempts of fighting against another hunter then you are allowed to kill this prey. It is then considered a joint kill. In the same event a hunter must not hunt in the same territory as another hunter. This is considered stealing from their potential kills. Though you can hunt only there if you're allowed by the other hunter. One must not murder another Yautja intentionally, this can be excused if this occurs during a battle that has been agreed upon by both parties.
If a Yautja breaks these laws, they are no longer accepted with our society. Yautja that turn against this code of honor become bad bloods, and thus must be killed off. They are honorless killers, that must not taint our strict society.
We have our honor code so that each hunter must go through various trials in order to increase their rank. These acts are in place to reach for a strong male or female status. The act of risking one's life in combat is how our society chooses who becomes the leader of it's people, or clan. It's these leaders who are considered to be the strongest and the wisest. One's who can lead a band of Youngbloods into the next millennia! Our elders had failed our long written laws! They have all been executed for their crimes. I WAHKAN DESCENDANT OF DARK WILL NO LONGER TOLERATE TREASON!" Wahkan roared. His anger bubbled through his calm speech. "To any who challenges my reform come forth now! This ends TODAY!" The Yautja stood quietly, looking back and forth to one another. No one came forward. No one dared challenge their new leader who had just slain the long reigning elders.
