BABY GIRL

The next morning, Can and Sanem drove to her doctor appointment. Sanem was nervous because while they were traveling, she never got to see a regular doctor. She prayed everything was alright with their baby. They checked in and waited to be called back. A nurse came out and asked for Mrs. Divit. Sanem loved the sound of that. She took Can's hand and headed back to a room. The nurse asked her to change into a gown and then left the room. Can helped her change into the open back gown. He really liked this gown, but Sanem hated it. She felt to exposed. Sanem sat on the table and waited. She was so nervous, she kept swinging her legs. Can laughed at her and told her to calm down. Everything was going to be OK. The doctor came in a short time later. She introduced herself and told Sanem she would do a thorough check-up. First, the doctor wanted to check her cervix to see if it was still closed. Can turned his back. He really didn't want to watch this part. The doctor said her cervix was fine. It was still closed. She told Sanem she wanted to listen for a heartbeat. She lifted Sanem's gown. Can came over and held Sanem's hand. The doctor applied a very cold, slimy gel to her stomach. She had some sort of wand in her hand. She started rubbing this wand all over Sanem's stomach. The machine beside Sanem started making these strange noises, kind of like an ocean. Then they heard a whoosh whoosh sound. The doctor said there is the heartbeat. Sanem looked at Can and they both had tears in their eyes. The doctor said the heartbeat sounded very healthy. The doctor then told Can and Sanem that since she was around 7 months pregnant, she wanted to do an ultrasound so she could look at the baby. Sanem said OK. The doctor changed machines and had a new wand. This machine had some sort of monitor on it. She applied more cold, slimy gel to Sanem's stomach. She started to rub the wand over Sanem's stomach again. The doctor smiled and said there is your baby and it looks like it is sucking its thumb. Sanem was crying by this time. She looked at Can and he had tears running down his face. The doctor asked if they wanted to know the sex of the baby. They both said at the same time. The doctor said let's see if the baby is going to cooperate. After a few minutes, the doctor exclaimed. There it is. Congratulations. You both are having a healthy baby girl. Sanem immediately said our little Deniz. She was squeezing Can's hand by this time. The doctor told them she would print off a few images of their ultrasound and then wanted to do blood work on Sanem.

The nurse said she would call Sanem with the blood work results as soon as it came back. She gave them the ultrasound pictures and told them the doctor wanted to see her back in 2 weeks. Can went and made her next appointment and then they headed to the truck.

Can asked Sanem if she wanted to stop and do some shopping for the baby. They hadn't purchased anything yet. Sanem told him sure. They stopped at a cute baby boutique. They picked out a beautiful crib, sheets, blankets, a play pen, changing table, diapers, clothes, booties, a car seat, and bottles. Sanem decided to breast feed, but she would express milk at times, so Can wouldn't feel left out. Can went off and picked up lotions, soaps, powder, wipes, an adorable stuffed albatross and an albatross mobile for the crib. His little Deniz would not want for anything. They paid for their purchases and loaded up the truck. They headed for the farm. More of their lumber would be arriving soon. Can pulled into the driveway and Bulut met him. He helped Can unload the truck. Can told Sanem him and Bulut were going to meet the lumber truck. He gave her a deep kiss, told her he loved her, and he would be back later. Can and Bulut headed out.

Sanem decided to put some of the baby's purchases away. She was turning the spare bedroom into the nursery. She put all the sheets, blankets and clothes away. She then put the lotions, soaps, wipes, powder and diapers on top of the dresser. She would let Can put the crib together when he had time. She took the bottles to the kitchen so she could sterilize them. She didn't know what all Can had picked up until she started unpacking the stuff. She found a beautiful albatross mobile to hang on the crib and an adorable stuffed albatross. She smiled with tears in her eyes. She said Ah, Can. Ah. He was just the sweetest man ever. Aziz and Embre arrived just then and asked where Can was. She told them he went to meet the lumber truck. Aziz and Embre saw the crib and changing table. They asked Sanem if she wanted them to put those together. She said sure, if you don't mind.

In the meantime, Bulut and Can were at the site for the new log cabin. Can found a surprise there. Bulut, Aziz and Embre had the footers already laid for the log cabin. Can was in shock. He realized their home was beginning to be a reality. He shook Bulut's hand and thanked him profusely for having the footers laid. It was one thing he didn't have to worry about. Can secretly called Sanem. He told Sanem to invite Deren over for dinner tonight. Sanem asked him what he was up too? Can said Oh nothing. Sanem said yeah right. He told her he was bringing Bulut over for dinner too. Can remembered his talk with Bulut over Deren. Can didn't like to play matchmaker, but he would do this for his friend, Bulut. Deep down he thought Deren and Bulut would be good for each other. He walked back over to Bulut and told him he wanted him to come over tonight for dinner. He told him it would be him, Sanem and Deren. Bulut told him OK, he would be there. Soon the delivery truck arrived, and the lumber was unloaded. They both headed back to the farm.

Embre and Aziz had the changing table and crib put together by the time Can arrived back home. The spare bedroom was looking more and more like a nursery. Can thanked them and clapped them both on the back. Sanem was able to put the new sheet set on the crib with the beautiful blanket. She hung the albatross mobile and placed the stuffed albatross at the bottom of the crib. She hugged Can and thanked him for everything. He kissed her and told her no thanks was needed. He would do anything for his beautiful wife and daughter. Embre and Aziz both said daughter at the same time. Can smiled and pulled out the ultrasound picture and introduced his daughter, Deniz to her grandpa and uncle. Aziz had tears running down his face. Embre pulled out his ultrasound picture and introduced his daughter, Guliz to her Uncle Can. Can had tears in his eyes. Can said, we are having daughters! Aziz was so happy he was getting 2 granddaughters. He said he had 2 beautiful daughters (Sanem and Leyla) and now 2 beautiful granddaughters. He told his sons he couldn't be happier.

Sanem started working on dinner, with Can's help. Deren arrived a short time later. She smiled when she found out Bulut would be joining them. She secretly had a crush on Bulut. Thinking about Bulut, he walked in the house right at that time. He gave Can and Sanem a bottle of wine. He then smiled at Sanem and told her it was nonalcoholic. He then walked over to Deren and started talking to her. Deren appeared very calm this evening. He really liked the calm Deren. Sanem told them dinner was ready. They had pasta, bread and salad. They all dug in and enjoyed each other's company. After dinner, everyone pitched in to clean up. Bulut asked Deren if she wanted to take a walk with him. Deren smiled and said sure. So, they both headed out. Sanem laughed at Can and called him her little matchmaker. She gave him a quick kiss and asked him if he was happy. Can smiled at her and told her he was over the moon. Can embraced her and told her thank you for marrying me. Thank you for carrying our child. Thank you for loving me. Sanem said no thanks needed. You are my life...my love...my whole world. I would do anything for you. They both looked outside just in time to see Bulut lean down to kiss Deren. Sanem looked at Can and asked if he sees another wedding in the future. Can laughed and said not our wedding, but maybe theirs.
