LIFE HAPPENS WHEN YOUR MAKING PLANS

NEW YORK CITY DAY 3

After Can and Sanem ate their breakfast, they headed around New York City to take in the sites. Sanem had been wanting to visit the National 9/11 Memorial and Museum. She was young when the tragedy occurred, but she watched documentaries and read a lot about it. She felt it was a heartbreaking day for America. So many people lost their lives and it pulled at her heart. So, they visited this monumental place first. Sanem had silent tears running down her face. Can hugged her. He loved that she had such a caring heart. After they were done there, they visited the Empire State Building. They went clear to the top. Sanem was in awe. The site was breathtaking. You could see everything from the top. Their next stop was the Statue of Liberty. Sanem thought she was absolutely beautiful. By the time they finished their little tour, Sanem was hungry for lunch. They decided to grab a couple hotdogs from a street vendor and eat in the park. Can has had hot dogs before, but this is a first for Sanem. She watched how Can ate his and then she mimicked him. Once she took her first bite, she was in love. She told Can it was delicious. Can smiled at her. Sanem asked him why it was a called a hot dog. Can told her he did not know. All he knew was that he liked them. Sanem laughed and said her too.

After they finished their hot dogs, they explored New York City some more. They visited the American Museum of Natural History. Can loved museums. They soon visited Times Square. Sanem could not believe all of the places that New York City had. It was so different then Istanbul. They returned to the hotel to get showered and changed. Can wanted to take her to a Broadway show. Sanem was excited. She had never been to one. Can was taking her to see Waitress. Can was enjoying watching the excitement all over Sanem's face. She reminded him of a small child. Her face was glowing. Her eyes were sparkling. Her smile was so bright and beautiful. He was so glad it was him showing her all of these new sites.

Once they were showered and changed, they headed out for dinner before the Broadway show. They stopped at a little cafe on their way to the Broadway show. Sanem could not read the English menu, so she had Can to translate. Sanem ordered a cheeseburger and fries. Can ordered a brisket with fries. They also ordered sodas to go with it. Sanem told Can she really missed her Turkish tea. Can told her he did too. He said next time they would pack some and brew their own. Sanem smiled and said good. The food arrived in no time and they dived into it. Sanem loved her cheeseburger. She was moaning after every bite. Can kept smiling at her. He loved how she was not afraid to eat. She never had been afraid to show her appetite in front of him. After they were through eating, they headed to see the Broadway show. They sat down and waited for the show to begin. Of course, Can translated as best he could when the show began. Sanem didn't seem to care that she could not understand the words. She got the concept even without understanding the words. She was in awe. It was a beautiful show. Can watched her facial expressions. She smiled...she got angry...she had tears in her eyes at one point. His wife never ceased to amaze him. He put his arm around her, and she leaned into him, while watching the show.

Once the show was over, they decided to head back to their hotel. They had one more day to explore before she had to meet her publisher. Can took an extra precaution this time. Metin, his lawyer and best friend, was flying into New York tomorrow night. He would be attending the meeting with the publisher too. Can would not let Sanem sign anything before Metin looked over the contract. He would tell Sanem once they got back to the hotel. Can hailed a taxi once they exited the show. Soon they were being dropped off at their hotel. Once they entered their room, Sanem sat down and took off her shoes. She let out a sigh of relief. Can asked his wife if she was tired. Sanem smiled and said yes, but it was a good tired. She told Can she was having so much fun with him in New York City. She told him she would cherish these memories forever. Can sat down beside her and put his arm around her. He told her he was always having a great time with her. He did miss their kids though. Sanem told him she did too. Can told her they would be home soon and back with their children. Sanem said him she knew. Can bent down and kissed his wife softly. The soft kiss ended up turning into a passionate kiss and one thing led to another. Soon they were naked in the bed, making sweet love to each other.

Afterwards, Can pulled Sanem into his arms and held her. Soon she was fast asleep. Can listened to the sound of her breathing. He soon was fast asleep along side her. Sanem woke first in the morning. She had her head on Can's chest listening to his heartbeat. She loved listening to his heartbeat. She actually love everything about her husband. She was having the most amazing time in New York and it was all because of Can. He had patience in translating the English for her. He never got angry or lost his patience with her. She was so happy he came on this trip with her. Can woke up with Sanem's head on his chest. Sanem looked up at him and said good morning, my love. Can told her good morning, my beloved. Can told her about Metin flying into New York this evening. He would be attending the meeting with her publisher tomorrow. Sanem smiled and told him he thinks of everything. He told her when he came to her, he was taking precautions. Sanem thanked him and gave him a kiss. Once again, they ended up making love to each other.

A while later, they both got showered and dressed. They decided to eat breakfast in the hotel this morning. They headed downstairs to eat. While they were eating, Can asked what she wanted to do today. Sanem told him she didn't really know. She told Can it was his turn to decide. Can said OK. Can told her they could walk along the beach. He told her there was one close, but they would have to take a taxi. Sanem said that was fine. After they were through eating, Can hailed a taxi and they headed to a local beach. Once there, they got out and started walking along where the water met the sand. Sanem loved the sound of the waves. They walked towards a boardwalk which had many different shops. Sanem asked Can if they could get souvenirs for the kids and their family. Can smiled and said of course. Sanem picked up 2 stuffed bears for her girls, Deniz and Yildiz. Both bears were wearing t-shirts that said, "I Love New York." Can picked up a baseball glove and ball for their son, Ates. It had the New York Giants logo on the glove. Sanem laughed and said maybe she should put the bear back and get Deniz a glove and ball. Can laughed and said she is our little tom boy. Sanem decided to keep the bear though. Sanem picked up things for her mom, dad, Leyla, Emre and their little girl, Guliz.

Soon, they hailed a taxi and headed back to the hotel with their treasures. Sanem laid down on the bed when they got back. Can asked if she was going to sleep the day away. Sanem smiled and said she was just resting her feet. They have done a lot of walking. Can laid down beside her. He looked over at Sanem a few minutes later and found her fast asleep. Can smiled. A few minutes later, Can dozed off beside her. They both woke up a few hours later. Sanem said she was hungry and wanted another one of those hot dogs. Can laughed and said OK. He told her to get ready and they would head out for a hot dog. Soon, they were outside the hotel looking for a vendor. They found one in no time. Sanem finally got her hot dog. Can told her he wanted to visit the Museum of Modern Art. Sanem said OK, let's go. They headed to the museum.
