I slowly opened my eyes. I had no idea where I was or why everything was so bright. I saw a woman sitting in a chair next to me. She appeared to be asleep. My body ached all over. My head felt like someone was hitting it with a sledgehammer. I must have moaned out loud, because the woman sitting next to me awoke with a start. Her eyes were bright, and she said my name...Can. She smiled and kissed my forehead. She told me welcome back and told me she loved me. She then quickly left the room. My father, mother and brother entered a few minutes later with this woman. A doctor soon arrived after them.

The doctor asked me how I was feeling and if I knew who these people were. I said my father, my mother and my brother. I looked at the woman who in turn was looking at me. I asked her who she was. I saw the pain and hurt in her eyes. She told me her name was Sanem and she was my girlfriend. I told her I was sorry that I did not know her. I saw the tears forming in her eyes. She slowly stood up and walked out of the room. I looked at my father and he told me Sanem was my soulmate....my other half....my everything. He also informed me that we were together when the car accident occurred. I told him I didn't remember any accident and I didn't remember her.

The doctor explained to me that I had damaged a part of my brain that effects the memory. I can remember everything in my life, except for the last 2 years. Those memories seemed to have been erased from my brain. He explained there was a 50/50 chance I would retain those memories once again. My heart ached for the woman who just walked out of my room. I could see the love in her eyes for me. She was beautiful and her smile lit up this room. That is until my words erased that smile from her beautiful face.

I must have dozed off because when I awoke once again, the woman, Sanem was sitting once again beside my bed. She was not sleeping this time. She was silently crying. I watched her for a few minutes without her knowledge. She was holding a necklace in her hand with a ring attached to it. I saw her kiss the ring and let it fall back to her neck. She raised her eyes and saw me watching her. She told me she was sorry and that she just wanted to sit next to me for a little while. She slowly stood up and turned to leave. I asked her to stay. I told her I was sorry I couldn't remember her, but I wanted to try to remember.

Sanem and I spent time together. She took me to our favorite places...my old hut...my childhood home...the rocks....the theater where we shared our first kiss. But no memories came to me. She opened the agency back up and got most of my old staff back. I tried so hard, but my memories of her just would not surface. I could see the frustration in her eyes but also the sadness. I didn't know what to do to take away her pain.

I went back to work at the agency. I was enjoying seeing Sanem there every day. She would bring me tea and constantly make me laugh. I really liked her. She was someone I could fall in love with.

One day, I noticed she was not there. No tea. No laughing. No bright smile. I asked my sister-in-law, Leyla who was also Sanem's sister, if she was ill that day. Leyla informed me that Sanem signed her 49% of the company over to her and Embre. She also handed me the necklace that Sanem wore around her neck. Leyla told me Sanem returned to the farm and asked her to return the moonstone ring to me. She told Leyla the ring meant nothing to her anymore since the person who gave it to her no longer loved her or remembered her.

I didn't know what to do. I still did not remember her, but I wanted to. I wanted to see her face everyday at work. I wanted her to bring me tea. I wanted her to make me laugh. But she left and I didn't know what to do or say to bring her back.

I just know I had to think of something.
