Note from Author: This is the last update for a long time, as I am going on a holiday. I apologise in advance for the delay.

As promised Maya met him near the entrance. It was still dark and he was carrying a torch and a bag. Maya was wearing a jacket, t-shirt and jeans. They walked up in silence. The small viewing point was just a tiny hilltop guarded by railings.

They waited in silence as a the first rays touched the mountains. Red slowly gave way to pink, and suddenly the whole range flashed in pure gold. Maya sucked in a quick breath. It was mesmerising.

Dhruv too watched spellbound. There was a something special about this morning. Some special energy was in the air. The air sizzled with excitement. It really felt special, and he had no doubt, it was all due to the small girl, standing beside him.

'Does it ever get boring?', he asked.

'Not yet for me. I think I can easily watch this everyday, but it will never get boring', Maya replied and then turned around to take a good look at him. Secretly, she knew, she would also never get bored of looking at him.

'Now tell me what where you doing in my room last night'

Dhruv shrugged casually. 'I was on my way out, when I saw a shadow hovering in front of your room. It was Dipak. He was about to go in when I confronted him'

Maya digested this thoughtfully. Dipak has become very creepy lately.

'Don't go with him to distant places anymore. He is not reliable.'

Maya nodded and said

'Thanks. But be warned, if you come into my room again, I cannot guarantee your safety. From tonight, I will keep a knife under my pillow'

Dhruv smiled, and asked 'Do you have  a knife?'

'No, I am planning to buy one'

'Come lets get you one. I think you will get one in one of the souvenir shops down in the valley.'

'It's not my day off'

'It's going to be raining again, which means you are not going to go on your survey, neither are we going to the trek'

'I have no intention of going on a trip with you!'

'No intention maybe, how about desire. Look, your friends don't have to know, we will meet down at 10 this morning, away from prying eyes. Or, do you wish to spend it with Dipak'

She would rather spend it with him. He made her feel alive. She knew she will never get a chance to spend time with this gorgeous guy again. Its just a day.

They agreed on a time and place, and parted ways. As she walked back into their shelter, she wondered if she made a mistake.

Present Time

Thinking back, Maya knew today that it was a mistake. The day was the best in her life. So good, that it had made all the days that followed look pale in comparison. She had never seen a single sunrise after that day.

Her phone started ringing. It was Krish

'Hello'

'Hi Maya! I need to tell you something urgent...don't come.....Please wait for.....'

The static was so heavy, that she could barely make out what he was saying. What was urgent? And where did he not want her to go?

The phone got disconnected and the network never came back. That's not unusual. Sometimes network go down for hours.

Maya went to bed with a very puzzled mind.

Krish cursed his phone for the hundredth time as he failed to reach Maya. He needed to talk to her, to warn her. He did not want her to get the biggest shock of her life without any warning.

He wanted to tell her, Dhruv was alive, and he doesn't remember a thing!
