Even in rage, Maya looked beautiful. Lips slightly parted, chest heaving with every breath she took, she looked a sight. The treacherous sun selected that very moment to cast its golden rays on her. Dhruv almost laughed at her feeble efforts to get away. Every little kick and hit just brought her closer to him. Dhruv did the only thing he could think of, he kissed her.

He captured her lips and delved right in. Maya's resistence melted, replaced by a new fire. She kissed him back with the same ferocity he had put into it. They kissed with the familiarity of lovers. There was ownership and a sense of possession.

Dhruv lifted his head up and observed her with hooded eyes.

'Now tell me why you are mad?'

Maya blinked and tried to remember what he was talking about. As she grew rigid, Dhruv tightened his hold. He could feel her anger in the air around them.

'You are engaged'

Instead of a question, it sounded more like an accusation. Dhruv was taken aback.

'No, I am not? Whereever did you get that idea from'

Maya was taken aback. She did not expect denial. She knew he was not lying, he is just too proud to lie.

'Krish told me. Some girl called and said that your parents have set the date of your engagement'

Dhruv moved away and gave her a very cold look.

'So, Krish called. You are in touch with him?'

Maya felt her temper rising again.

'You think you can dictate who I can stay in touch with?'

Only a slight tightening of his lips indicated what he felt.

'yes'

Maya would have been furious if she had not been so surprised. She moved up to him and stabbed her finger in his chest.

'No you cannot! Just because we had sex, does not mean you have any control on me. I will select my own friends.'

Dhruv looked at the delicate finger resting somewhere near his heart. He would not admit it, but somehow the small taps were turning into sharp jabs in his heart.

'So if not sex, then what would give me a say in your life?'

Maya did not know how to answer that. She was lost for words. While she stared at him, he slowly circled her.

'If I marry you? If I lock you up in a room and tie you to the bedpost. If I make love to you until all you could see, hear, smell and taste is me, will all that get me a say in your life?'

Maya could not say a word. The imagery his words painted filled her with a slight shiver of delight, telling her she would not mind being locked in a room with him.

Dhruv read the need in her eyes and smiled. That smile was enough to tell her that he was serious. Suddenly, Maya wanted to get back to her room, safe from whatever he had in mind.

'Let's get you back to your room, before I take you on the forest floor.'

Maya did not need  a prompting. She swiftly turned around and made for the road. Dhruv followed at a little distance. He could not trust himself to be near her. Her words gave him some comfort. Jealously looks good on her, especially when it concerns him. But the little doctor has to be taken care of. How dare he call Maya?

After reaching their lodgings, both headed for their room. Dhruv waster no time in calling the doctor. He picked up after are few rings.

'Hi Dhruv! I was trying to reach you.' Krish's jovial voice floated across the line.

'But you reached my girlfriend instead. Now listen carefully, Krish, Maya belongs to me. I don't want her talking to you, or any other man who has an interest in her. Is that understood?'

Krish was taken aback. Dhruv's proclaimation hurt a little bit. He really was interested in Maya. But the raw possessiveness in his voice reassured him. But then, what about the engagement?

'Dhruv, you are begenning to sound like my commanding officer. But let me remind you, you are not my commanding office, neither am I scared of you. It was not a coincidence that I called her, when I could not reach you. If you are ettitng engaged, as a friend, it's my job to make sure that Maya knows about it. I will always look out for her, and I will not wait for your permission to do that. Anyways, I will be comming back in a few days. We will talk then.'

With that Krish, disconnected the call, leaving Dhruv fuming and a bit disgruntled. He liked so many things about Krish, but his dedication for Maya irritated the hell out of him. At least he is far away. And he had a few days before Krish comes. And a few days is all he needed anyways.

He grinned and typed a quick message to Maya.

'Meet me at the terrace after 12:00'
