Saturday October 16

The State Attorney looked like an ape. I'm not exaggerating. He looked so ridiculous that I couldn't help but laugh at him during the five minute hearing.

The judge ended up letting me go with a warning. I also have to do "community service." though, which is okay I guess.

You know what, I'm good as long as I don't have to spend another night in jail. Honestly the girls in there are maniacs. They fight each other over the smallest things. I tried my best to stay out of their way, and luckily the huge white girl didn't punch me in the face. But I swear to god if I stayed there one more night I'd end up with a broken nose.

Basically we need 100 hours of community service to graduate and I was already done with 80 of them thanks to my summer internship. But now I had to start all over.

Monday October 18

As I walked into my homeroom classroom, everyone's eye shifted towards me. Everyone's eyes were on me. I was taken aback. But I was even more shocked when I saw Ella sitting at her desk in the back of the class. I thought she'd be in jail for drug abuse and I wouldn't have to deal with her crap for one day. But nooo

"I can't believe you." I said to her as I took the seat next to her. I looked at her dead in the eyes but she looked down to the ground.

"This isn't your seat." She said awkwardly.

At that point no one was looking at me anymore. What surprises me is how quickly news travels here. How does the entire class know what happened to Ella and I?

"What the fuck were you on that night?" I asked her, mostly mad but also curious and worried.

She mumbled a few words and chewed on her nails, trying her best to avoid eye contact with me.

"What?" I asked, growing angrier

"I said I don't know." she snapped, "I don't remember anything from that night. Jesus, I woke up in a goddamn jail cell. My lawyer told me what the police told her. Okay? She and I made up some bullshit and we were lucky that the judge bought it. All I know is that you and I got busted at a party. I'm assuming Nick's?"

"No." I sighed

"What?"

I understand why she was confused.

The bell rang and I had to go complete Hour 1 of my in-school community service program.

"I'll explain everything to you later. Right now just go to your class and sleep or something. You really need it, the circles under your eyes make you look like a meth head."

I walked through the hallway and everyone stared at me. I could see the freshman girls whispering to each other, but to be honest I couldn't give a shit what they think of me even if I tried.

I had to find room B101.

If tutoring some kid in biology meant that I can get my hours back, then that's great. But frankly, I was kind of anxious. I kept thinking What if I'm crap at teaching and What if the kid hates me.

I mean yeah I'm doing pretty well in AP Biology, but that doesn't mean that I can tutor.

At the same time I was excited though. If this kid really ends up learning something from me then that would be great too.

I entered the classroom and I saw Mr. Xanders sitting on a short chair, reading a book. He stood up quickly when he saw me.

"Good, you're here!" He said a bit too excitedly. "You're Sara Wilson?" He asked.

I can't believe he doesn't remember me. I wqas in his class in 4th grade. He was my favorite history teacher. Maybe it's because he is old.

"Yep, that's me." I said, a fake smile immidiately appearing on my face.

"Great. You will be tutoring biology everyday, first period for a month." He said in a rush.

I noded.

"I have to go to a staff meeting. Good luck." He was extremely fast for an old man.

I looked to the back of the class, where a brown-haired boy was sitting. Actually he seemed to be asleep. If I had to guess, I'd say he was around my age. He was wearing a navy blue hoodie and he had his earphones in his ears.

I made my way to the back of the class and stopped in front of his desk.

I wasn't sure how to wake him up. I didn't want to yell or anything. I also didn't want to shake him.

I decided to just drop all of my textbooks on his desk and hope that the noise would be enough to wake him up.

BAM!

The boy jumped with fright. He removed one earphone from his ear and gave me a puzzled look

"What the hell?" He said in a sleepy yet pissed off voice.

He ran his fingers through his hair and rubbed his eyes.

He seemed familiar to me. I'd probably seen him once or twice in the hallways. I didn't know his name though. I looked at the paper the principal had given me in the morning and found his name under Biology:REG

"Oh okay you're Theo." I said

He clenched his jaw and looked away.

Huh?

"Excuse me?" I said, raising my eyebrows. "You're Theo right?"

"Couldn't you see I was sleeping?" He asked, his sleepy voice fading slowly

"I don't care. I was told that I need to tutor you in Bio and that's why I'm here so if you-"

"I don't want to be here any more than you do." He cut me off, "So how about you show up everyday, mind your own business, I'll do my thing, and we can stay out of each other's way. Okay?" He said, giving me a sarcastic smile.

Wow though, his smile was kind of perfect.

I took the seat in front of him and opened the Bio textbook to chapter 3.

"You need to pull your grade up by 15% in order to pass. If you don't, you will need another month of tutoring, and I won't get my hours. So we might as well do this right." I said, trying to stay calm.

He looked at me straight in the eyes for a long time and bit his bottom lip.

"Fuck you." He said

Seriously what was wrong with this boy? He was getting on nerves so bad I just wanted to punch him in the face. It's not like I wanted to tutor him. It's not like any of this was fun for me.

"Jesus what's your problem?" I snapped

He didn't say a word

"You know what, I can't do this. This is ridiculous, I'm out." I said and left the room.

I had honestly never met a boy as stuck up and stubborn as he was. He was picking a fight for nothing. Absolutely nothing. He has some serious issues.

I carried the textbooks with one hand and ran my hand through my hair with the other.

I was at the end of the hallway when I heard Theo's voice.

"Wait" He said

I stopped. I don't know why I did, but I stopped and I turned around.
