6th period math is the worst. I'm barely even awake after lunch, how do they expect me to solve matrices and write inequalities?
"Midterms are coming up, as you know." Mr. Chu said as he walked into the classroom in a hurry. He was late, as usual.
"I'm sorry I'm late, I had some business to take care of at home." He said, removing his black scarf. He had just come back from his lunch break.
"Wife problems?" Derek whispered and laughed. I seriously wish he would get kicked out of math class too.
"What's that?" The teacher asked.
"Nothing sir." Derek replied.
I hate him as much as his brother. The only difference between them is that Nic is a hot, smart, athletic senior, and Derek is a lazy, druggie 17 year old sophomore. I heard that at Nic's parties, Derek takes drunk girls up to his room and fucks them, sometimes against their will. This might just be a rumor, but most rumors about Nic's parties turned out to be true.
"So your midterms will cover chapters 1 through 4. If you have any questions, come see me in my office. Today we will be doing practice problems."
I cannot concentrate in this class. I always end up looking out the window and staring at the sky.
From my seat, I can see the graffiti on the walls of the left wing of the school. There was a new one. It said "Wild Girls Do It Best."
Okay.
Whatever you say.
"Sara!" Mr Chu yelled. I jumped
"Are you listening?" He asked
"Umm." I was not sure what to say.
"How will you pass the test if all you do is stare out the window during class?"
The class was silent, but Derek was chuckling. I just wanted to punch him in the face.
"Sorry." is all I managed to say
"This is going to affect you, not me." He said, probably thinking that he just made a very good point.
The rest of the class went by pretty quickly. Mr Chu and Will, the nerd of the class, were debating about some political crap, and it was actually quite funny how worked up they got over nothing.
The bell rang and I rushed out of the classroom. It was finally last period. Days at school pass by so slowly that it's like every second seems like an hour.
B101. I had my Bio textbook and a notebook full of practice problems, and I headed upstairs, almost excited to tutor Theo. I felt like we were finally getting along and that maybe, just maybe, this whole thing could work out.
There was no one in the room. On the board, there was a note from Mr. Xanders that said "i could not make it today, i have a meeting"
Of course you do.
The final bell had already rung and Theo had still not arrived. I went to the back of the class and took a seat. I opened the book to the second chapter: Biomes. Cellular respiration was probably not the best chapter to begin with.
After twenty minutes of reviewing the questions I prepared, and writing notes in the textbook, I began to lose my patience. He was almost half an hour late, where the hell was he?
As I gathered my things and prepared to leave, I heard footsteps in the hall.
Theo barged in, looking pissed as hell. Guess what though, I was pissed too.
"Where the fuck have you been?" I shouted at him.
"It doesn't matter, I'm here now." he said, annoyed.
"You can't just show up half an hour--"
"You don't want to get on my nerves right now." He put his hand on his forehead, and held the wall to keep balance.
"Are you drunk?" I said.
He did not answer.
"You've got to be kidding me. At school?"
"No, damn it. Shut up." He sat down and laid his head down on his desk.
"You always have an excuse, don't you?"
He picked his head up and looked at me, confused.
"You're never gonna pass Biology." I shaked my head.
Theo looked at me straight in the eyes and stood up.
"I show up whenever I fucking want to," He yelled, "If I want to smoke weed in this classroom, I'm gonna do it, 'cause guess what? You can't stop me. Do you have a problem with that?" He said even louder.
My heart was racing. I did not know what to say, so I rushed to the door. Before I could make it out he grabbed my shoulder and turned me around. I was terrified. I wanted to yell but nothing came out of my mouth. I stood there silently.
"I don't need a damn tutor." He clenched his jaw and ran his finger through hid hair before sitting back down.
