Chapter Ten

I saw Zack Hall walking up before anyone else. A girl that was much too skinny followed a distance behind, she seemed skeptical and scared. Without a word I ran to her and pulled her into a hug. We both fell to our knees and let out our tears. After all, we were finally together again.

Brendon approached us and I saw Logan look very afraid, pulling away from me and backing away until she was up against the wall. "Hey, hey, easy, I'm not gonna hurt you,"Brendon said with his hands up. There was an unfamiliar hurt look in his eyes. Logan started nodding furiously to me. 'Who are these people?'she signed. "Oh, this is Brendon and he's your adoptive dad. Sarah, his wife, is on her way out here on a plane to meet you"I explained. I pointed everyone out. "This is Tyler and Josh. They saved my life and Josh adopted me. Turns out he's my long lost half brother,"I said. Logan nodded along with that information.

"Guys, this is Logan Blake Urie. She's been my childhood best friend for forever. She's mute,"I introduced. She gave a little wave. "ZACK, JACK, ALEX, AND RIAN YOU'RE NEEDED ON STAGE NOW!"Matt Flyzik, the manager of All Time Low, yelled. "Ahh, don't yell at me, mommy!"Jack screamed and went running for the stage, making us laugh as the other guys shook their heads as they laughed and started to run to sound check.

"Come on, Logan. You've never seen one of their shows, it's amazing!"I said, pleading and begging. I was trying to get her to come watch sidestage with me. The show wasn't for a few more hours but I liked being inside early. She was freaking out because we were picking Sarah up after the show. She kept trying to protest until I grabbed her arm and began pulling her along behind me.

I flashed the badge around my neck at the security guard at the door and he let us in. She struggled to get out of my grip. Everyone was rushing around backstage and the bands were gathered together. They were discussing something as we approached. I went to Josh and let him put an arm over my shoulders as I held onto Logan's hand. She was still very skeptical of this group. I released her hand for a moment. "They won't hurt you. You're safe now. I'm here,"I signed and grabbed her hand again. She sighed and relaxed a little bit at what I said.

"So, what's with the big, secret huddle meeting?"I asked Josh. Tyler's head snapped to me. Josh looked at Tyler and they exchanged a look. "Well, uh, before you got up this morning, Tyler and I decided to play basketball. It didn't exactly end well,"Josh said, not meeting my eyes. "What? Why? What happened?"I asked, looking at both of them.

Tyler held the hand I hadn't been able to see up. It was wrapped in a temporary Ace Bandage cast. "I may have a small fracture in my wrist and broke my middle and ring fingers,"Tyler explained. I gaped at him. "How are you going to play? The show is only a few hours away,"I said when I finally found words. "That's the thing, I'm not. I can't. That's where you come in,"Tyler said. "Me?"I questioned. "Yes, you,"Tyler said, his eyes crinkling around the edges with laughter.

"Will you play bass, ukulele, and piano with us? You already know how to and you know a majority of our songs,"Tyler said a moment later, his face completely serious. "Are you sure about this? I mean, wouldn't someone else be better. I'm amateur at best,"I said. I felt Logan pull her hand out of my grip and punch my shoulder. I looked at her in surprise. 'You can do this!'she signed. "Yeah, whatever she said,"Tyler said, gesturing at Logan.

"Come on, Ry, please. I'm sure about this. No one else knows our songs as well as you and you're crazy talented,"Tyler said. The assembled musicians scoffed jokingly at Tyler's comment, under the assumption that he meant they weren't talented. "Fine,"I said. "Fine as in you'll do it?"Josh asked. "I'll do it,"I said, letting Josh and Tyler pull me into a tight hug. I hoped this wasn't a mistake. They had no clue about my stagefright. It's time to face my fears I guess.

Everyone had hung around backstage for awhile. We had ordered a ton of pizza from Dominos. Logan stayed in our dressing room with me after soundcheck to help me get ready. I didn't know what to wear. Jenna came bursting into the room with a garment bag in hand. "I made it!"she exclaimed. Sarah must've gotten in early because she followed after Jenna closely. I hugged them both, trying not to let my fear and anxiety show.

"Hi, I'm Sarah. You must be Logan,"Sarah said when she pulled away from me. She held a hand out to Logan. Logan nodded and shook her hand. Knowing Brendon must have told Sarah that Logan was mute, I didn't bother explaining it. "This is for you. It's something Ty and I bought for your first show tonight. We had talked about it over the phone right after the incident this morning,"Jenna said. I nodded, feeling sick with anxiety at the thought I had to be on stage in around an hour. "Well, what are you waiting for? Try it on,"Jenna said.

I grabbed the bag and slid into the bathroom. I slid out of my clothes and took out the beautiful, quarter length sleeved, short black dress. I pulled it on carefully. It fit perfectly, the skirt loose around my legs as it came to a rest right at my knees. I stepped out. "Perfect,"Jenna said.

Sarah gently grabbed my hand, pulling me to a chair in front of a mirror. She instructed me to keep my eyes closed until she was done with my hair and makeup. I only hoped I could actually go through with this without letting them all down.
