"Ç'est Toi et Moi"

𓆩♱𓆪

September 18th, 1893

It's been eight days since my first encounter with a Vampire. I hath stopped going to night school just like Cleo had, because of fear, the fear of it happening once more.

"I'll be back"

His words echoed through my head like knives; could he actually be after me again? What would I do next time thee tries? I sat up from bed After hearing a knock.
"Victoria, it's Cleo."

"Come in"

The only person I've allowed to see me in this condition since was Cleo, she understood what it was like; the adrenalin, the fear, the feeling of being so utterly weak.
Cleo sat beside me on the bed, her eyes carrying a look of worry. "Everyone asks where thou hath gone, what happened, and if thou are okay." I turned to look at her directly, she was staring at the floor, saddened. "Is this how everyone felt when I was gone?"

I nodded my head slightly, looking down.
"Lucian's worried about thou, whenever Lucian tries asking to visit, but thour guards refuse, leaving him clueless, thou should at least tell him thou're okay,
he's worried that tis' worse than it truly is, thou should tell him sooner before later." I glanced my view over to the side table by my bedside. '4:07' in the afternoon.

"Hath thee wound healed yet?" I mumbled, receiving a nod from Cleo. "It healed a few days ago, and we haven't seen that silhouette since our encounter." I nodded in agreement.

Lie.

I couldn't stop seeing him since the encounter,
at night he haunts me by my bedside, even within my dreams, or nightmares I should say, His silhouette follows me wherever I go.

The main question boiling inside my head, was 'Why me?' why come back after me, I'm just an ordinary person like every other human, just like Cleo, So what was so special about me? Was it because Felix saved me? Thomas's replies to my questions and his laugh rang through my head like a sharp blade.

"I
t's our way of living, it's what we were born to do. It's how we eat and survive, the bonus is the look of fear, with little hope left, and the look of losing hope."

If that's really how they all thought about all humans, in that sick way, then they're really is no hope trying to become allies, Felix was right.

"
They're sick and cruel creature's who hath no mercy."

"Felix will be coming in after I leave, He say's that he has something to talk to thou about, We'll talk later okay?" Cleo embraced her arms around me in a warm hug before walking out of the room, closing the bedroom door.

"Come in."
He opened the door, closing it behind him while approaching me, sitting beside me on my bedside.
"How are thou holding up?"
"I'm fine, Thomas took me by surprise, but I'm alright."
"Good, never let those Monster's know they took thou by surprise." He replied.
"We need to talk."
He turned to look me in the eye with a look of seriousness, I sat up straight and turned my body to face him as a nodded.
"No one else besides the students in the church and upper-class officials know what happened to thou that night, and it should stay that way. these creatures may seem like normal people but believe me when I say they're not, they love the look of pain, sorrow, and emptiness in the human eye once they're about to strike or have." I looked down at my hands, as they subtly shook at the mention of the situation. Now thou see why I told the Mayor hopefully, I'm doing this to protect everyone, thy don't care what Lucian might have said about alerting them all, it would alert them to go somewhere else if they know what's better for them." He added.
"Felix?"
"Yes?"
"Do...do thou think Thomas will really be back for me like he said?"
He looked at me with a small smile. "Don't worry, I won't let him hurt thou or Ambrose." He said, patting my head before leaving the room aswell. I laid back on my bed thinking about the two encounters I just had with Cleo and Felix.
*Knock Knock Knock*
Again? Who could it be this time?
"Come in!"
The door opened as I saw the familiar Raven-black haired boy"Guess who Shooting star"
"Lucian!" I ran to the door, giving him a big warm hug."Woah! Easy there, I missed thou too Shooting star" He held me back, making me feel a lot better than anyone else had in the past few days. I let go of the embrace to look at him, "How did thou get in? I heard thou've had some issues trying to come inside-"
"Cleo helped talk to the guards to inform them when she was leaving that I'm one of thou's friends and not a stranger from the town; I heard about everything that happened from Cleo and Ambrose, Are thou okay? thou weren't hurt by that Vampire 'Thomas' right?" Lucian's face and voice were begging for clarity on the situation, "I'm okay, Felix saved me that night, Thomas was close to biting me if it weren't for Felix-"  I was pulled into another hug once more. "Thank goodness, I-I was so worried that thou had been bitten or killed-" Lucian's voice stuttered out of worry, but I thought it was kind of cute to know he cared so much for me.
"I'm Okay, but only for now."
"What do thou mean?"
I looked around the room, at the walls, the flooring, and the architecture of the roof. "That night...Thomas was about to be killed, but vanished, and before he did, He told Felix and me something."
"What did he tell thou?"
"He told me He would be back, and how he's always lurking in the shadows...I don't know if I should believe him or not but ever since then all I can hear is his laugh echoing, and his words replaying on a loop. At night I see his silhouette in the corner of my room and its talking to me, all night long, I-I don't know what to do anymore, I keep saying it was just a surprise to me and that I'm fine, but In reality, I'm worried deathly Lucian, I don't know if he's really coming back or if he's waiting in the shadows for the perfect time or what- but I'm deathly afraid-" I started rambling on, Lucian tightened the hug, holding me tightly as I wept in his arms
"Shhh, tis' okay dear shooting star, I'm always going to be here for thou. It's thou and me, thou aren't alone." For days, I've only been uptight, alert, and scared, not given a single moment to truly talk to someone about my issues or cry with them until Lucian arrived, Cleo was right, I should've told Lucian.

"He said the reason they hunt us, was simply because that's how they survive and live, what they were born to do, and said that they love the look in our eyes when they do so- why would they be so cruel?!"

Lucian looked down at me, a look of sadness washing over his face. "Some Vampires are really cruel people Victoria, but some others aren't...Can thou keep a secret that would stay between only the two of us?" He replied, I nodded my head in confusion. "Tis' not easy to say this, but I hath a vampire friend, He isn't as cruel as the other vampire's out there, the look of pain doesn't make him happy."

What?

"How does thou know that?!"

"I've grown up with him since before he turned Victoria, All I ask is, please try meeting him with me, I won't let him hurt thou at all if thou trust me on this, I give thou my word"

I know I shouldn't go, but the look on his face, he almost looked saddened to hear me say such a thing about the vampires. "Are thou sure I won't be hurt?"

"I can guarantee it shooting star."

I took a minute before silently nodding my head.

"Come with me, before the sun sets, I promise to not leave thour side the whole time." Lucian held out his hand gently to me, I slowly took his hand, following him out to the front door of the Mansion. "M-Miss! Thou're out of bed!" The guards asked shockingly, as I slowly nodded

"What was it like!?! Due tell us-!"

"I'm Sorry but I feel the need to intervene, please remember she's taking it slow right now, I'm sure she can tell thou all about it after she's recovered fully."

The Guards nodded, bending forward "Our Apologies Miss, but we do ask to keep a guard with thou-"

"Tis' Okay, She'll be with me the whole time I promise," Lucian replied for me.

"Very well, if anything happens to her thou will be held responsible."

"Understandable, I will take full responsibility"

The Guards opened the Mansion gates for us, allowing us to leave, Lucian brought me to the river bridge, where we stood waiting for his friend, but when His friend approached I realized he looked familiar. "Lawrence?" I asked confused, "Hello Victoria."

"It makes sense why thou asked about the books I was looking at in the library now, thou wanted to know why a human like me would want to read folk tales about Vampires."

He nodded while rubbing his neck. "Thy wanted to know why it mattered so much to a human, but then thou had told me about the Mayor, The Agreste, and Lucian here and that's when I knew other vampires had arrived in Paris, and then last night Lucian informed me about the encounter with 'Thomas' the vampire" He looked up at me "Victoria, please believe Lucian and me that not all vampire's want to be vampires, nor do we want to hurt anyone, but Thomas? The one who attacked thou? He's been known by other vampires for being merciless, He's cold-hearted, He won't let a victim survive once he has his hands on them-"

"Not the right thing to be telling her right now Lawrence"

"Sorry"

Lawrence sighed before taking a deep breath. "Please do believe me when I say it's strictly Thomas and his minions who believe in things that way, When I feed, I always try to make sure the victim stays alive, I don't ever want the death of an innocent to be on my hands"

I asked Lawrence questions, questions about what it's like, what the feeling of hunger feels like, how he stops himself, etc. I wanted to know everything that could potentially save someone else's life. before I had known it, the sun started to set.

"Do thou feel comfortable enough to come to the school yet?"

I stayed silent for a moment before nodding my head in agreement, "thy don't want to go alone though-"

"Tis' okay, you hath me there, we just need to grab Josephine and Rose and we'll walk there okay?"

I nodded again as we walked to the Ship

"Hello Class Today we'll be-"

Sister Bustier stopped, looking upward to see us at the church doors.
"Victoria Welcome back dear, You 4 came just in time!"

The class turned around to approach me, Ambrose and Marian practically choking me with hugs. "We were so worried about you!" Marian said, hugging me tighter, In the corner of My eye, I could see how Lucian looked at her with such an adoring smile, it was no secret at this point that he loved Marian truly, but as much as it hurt to see that, it also hurt knowing I'd always be seen as his best friend by him and everyone else.

"We didn't know if we'd see you at school again!" Ambrose added as they both choked me with hugs "I'm okay really you guys, but you're both kind of choking me" They laughed before letting go, and apologizing to me. Felix walked over to me, staring straight into my eyes
"Welcome back Victoria"

"Tis good to be back."
