Klyde POV

"Val its me open up!" Ive been knocking on her door  for a while and nothing. I hear a car pull up and see Mars and Jamie come out. Why is Mars with Jamie? last time I checked Mars doesn't hang out with sophomores.

" Hey man" I simply nod back to Mars and give Jamey a hug. I havent seen this girl in ages, shes grown up so fast. I let go of Jamie and notice Mars is glaring at me.

OK?.......

" So you what are you doing at Valerie's house?" Jamie asks. Well this is awkward " um were suppose to study but I guess shes not here"

"shes probably sleeping, shes a heavy sleeper. Here lets break into her house" I stare at her with wide eyes. Break into her house? I turn to see that Mars has the same expression.

Jamie's runs to the back and we wait. " So um you wanna explain why your with Jamie? a sophomore?" I ask Mars. He coughs and kicks the dirt. " shesmymate"

" I didnt catch that?"

" Shes my mate Klyde. Except she doesn't know it..." he tells me awkwardly. Ha-ha he got a young one. Before I can say anything Jamie opens the door and there she stands holding her Vals dog.

I walk in leave Jamie and Mars downstairs with the dog, and go check on Val. There she was sleeping, I walk towards her and I step on a pillow. In fact ALL the pillows were on the ground I mentally laugh at her. Looks like someone hates pillows.

I sit on the side of her bed and try to find her head underneath the covers. I turn her lamp off and notice  some pills. I grab them  and  read  label which reads  serotonin I put it back as If I didn't touch it and run down stairs.

I simply walk out of the house not saying anything to Jamie or Mars and try to remember the name on the bottle.

Once I get home I search of serotonin and begin to read about it. My heart feels like its about to break once I found my answer. IT explains so much about Val, why she doesn't smile, laugh. etc. It explains why shes the way she is. The answer was and is simple.

She has depression.

My mate is depressed.
