"Right then, H and M, we need to start packing things up and head out to our next location. J, you'll stay with me so I can show you the ropes of what we do and every thing in between."
"Sure thing, L."
"Come with me then, I want to show you something."
I walked out of the room, Eren right behind me, and walked onto the stage. I knew it'd be safe since Erwin was in control of the fans outside the auditorium. I slowed down as I approached the microphone I used to sing the songs I performed about half an hour ago, and gently took it into my hands. I kept my gaze on the mic as I proceeded in speaking to Eren.
"I wanted to get away from those two, since they find me being like what I'm about to be is laughable; like they're judging me."
"I won't judge you for anything, L. I don't see how people can judge others without hearing them out."
"At least you're more sensible than those two; I thank you for that."
"So what was it you wanted to tell me? I don't mean to sound impatient, it wasn't my intention."
"I know, I'm just dragging this out more than I need to. Right. I brought you out here so that you could hear where I'm coming from," I took in a breath and let it out, shakily, before continuing. "Music is my life line. It always has. As cliché as that might sound, it's true to me. My mother was the one who hooked me up to that life line. She was the doctor and I was the dying patient, so she prescribed me with music. Point being, my motivation for why I do what I do is because of her. I can't see her though; it's too painful."
"Why's that? Where is she now?"
"... She died of disease, one that was incurable."
"... I'm sorry for your loss..."
"No need to be, she sold herself just to make an earning to keep me going in life. That doesn't mean I hated her or anything; I loved her with all my being," I watched as Eren came up to me and looked at the empty seats of the auditorium, clearly taking in my story.
"I respect you, L. I respect you because of your motivation and reason for your songs."
"Yeah, well, I wasn't trying to make you say that. I'm just really bad when it comes to having a real conversation with someone; singing is my form of communicating."
"I get that. I can relate to some degree. As I told you before, my father lost his job when I was younger and he became an alcoholic because of that. It was so easy to anger him in his drunken state, and when you pissed him off he'd beat you until you begged him for mercy. All of it became too much for my mother, so she killed herself in front of me. I was still a young child; no child should experience what I've been through. Anyway, I found a guitar in my father's archive closet and started teaching myself how to play and sing so I could try and make my own profits to survive."
He was right when he said he could relate. I went through the same thing, well, almost the same thing. After my mother passed away, my uncle, Kenny, took me in and taught me what I needed to know to fend for myself. He tried to get me into his line of work, being a secretive hit-man, but I didn't want to take anyone's life away after my mother passed on. Her songs are what drive me to this day to keep going; to use as the hidden melodies in my songs.
As much as I praise and express my gratitude for her, it'll never be enough.
I realized that I had forgotten what I was trying to tell Eren, so I cleared my throat and let go of the mic, walking back towards where we came onto stage from.
"I got sidetracked and forgot what I brought you out here for, so I'll show you what we do to help the others pack up before we head out to our next location. Now that I have your father in mind, will he be concerned as to where you are?"
I watched as Eren grit his teeth and narrowed his eyes when I asked, but I needed to know so his father couldn't file me and my band as kidnappers.
"Knowing him, he won't give two shits about where I am, seeing how drunk he gets everyday," Eren informed me in a vicious tone.
"As long as you're positive he won't care. I just don't want him to get the wrong idea here and get police involved with us. That would ruin No Name for good," Eren simply nodded, so I waved my hand for him to follow me. "Come on, I'll show you what I like to do to help. Though, you better be ready and not complain when I tell and show you."
"... Like I'd complain, I've got pride to uphold you know."
"I do, and I do too," I smirked.
Eren returned the sentiment and followed me to the back stage supply closet. When I opened the door, I closed my eyes and took in a deep breath, taking in the relaxing and refreshing smell of the cleaning products that sat inside this tiny room. I escaped my small trance and grabbed a broom and mop, handing the mop to Eren.
"You known how to clean with this?"
"Yeah, I worked part-time at a lot of places and a few I had cleaning duty."
"Good, I'll sweep and you mop after I'm done. After we do the floors, we'll clean every little nook and cranny back here and work ourselves up to the front of the building. We'll do all this within twenty minutes."
"Twenty minutes?! Are you crazy?!"
"I'm not. I've done this part of wrap up since I created this band, so I know how long it takes to clean the facility before we leave."
I continued to explain to Eren my experience and knowledge as we started to clean the back stage. I knew I shouldn't have believed Eren when he said he had experience cleaning; it was evident that he didn't. Looks like I'll be giving him a lecture on the tour bus to our next location, and an awfully long one too, just for good measure.
