Flashback

I folded a note I had written for Bethany and tucked it into my back pocket. I had planned to give it to her this morning but with everything that happened, I never got the chance. As a matter of fact, I honestly don't think I will ever have a chance to give it to her.

When I got home my mom was furious when she saw my face especially since today was my prom night. She wanted to get the authorities involved but I had to put my foot down on that.  My dad on the other hand glanced at my face and shook his head as he made his way back into the office. I honestly don't know what is up with that guy.

I've been in my room for the past 3 hours trying to avoid the many photographers and event planners my mom hired.

Why did she hire a full team of event planners for one prom night?

I have no idea.

The tux she had custom made for me was way over the top. My suite had a suede collar and two suede strips going down the side. She also engraved my cufflinks with my initials, which was also made from real gold.

I looked at myself in the mirror and I honestly didn't like who I was looking at. This is the reason why everyone think I'm a snobbish, rich boy who gets whatever he wants but all I want is to be a normal senior and experience my teenage years just like everyone else.

I sighed and shook my head.

"Vincent, honey!" I heard my mom's voice come from downstairs, "Alfred has to add a few touches to your tuxedo, can you please come down here."

I run my hand through my hair one last time before I headed down the stairs.

Our house was immaculate! Marble was spread throughout the entire house, covering every inch of the floor. The day I bought this plot of land, I was 15 years old and allowed my mom to decorate it to her desires but she had to let me decorate one wing of the house that would be for me and my friends.

My friends, I could tell the second I got rich, who were my real friends and who were just using me for my money. Jarrod, David, Lauren, Jocelyn, Cooper and Bethany, never treated me differently once they realized I had money; unlike my other friends who kept asking me for things.

They were loyal to me and I was loyal to them, well not all of them.

The day I saw her with the brother I felt lied to and betrayed. Instead of confronting her about it, I yelled at her, I bullied her, I taunted  her, I made her life a living hell. The day I turned against her Cooper was really quick to defend her and stood up for her, so I assumed that she knew about it and began to taunt Cooper as well; but unbeknownst to me, Cooper was stronger than she looked.

As much as I hated Bethany for what she did, no matter how angry I got when I stood face to face with her, I never landed a hand on her. So when she punched me over and over again, I just let her. I was never going to stop her and I was never going to defend myself. She needed that and I needed it too.

"I still can't believe that Bethany Knight girl did this to your face!" my mother tsked and walked around me as Alfred made a few adjustments. Her voice pulled me out of my thoughts and I focused on her next words, "I'm very pleased that Principal Williams prohibited her from the prom. The girl doesn't need to be anywhere near my baby!"

I roled my eyes at her nonsense talk, "mom, like I've told you a million times, I instigated that fight. I chose not to stop her. It was all my fault and not hers." I repeated the same words I have told her over the past 5 hours since I've been home, but it seems as though she isn't listening.

"Honey, Vincent has loved this girl for years,"My dad said as he entered the room from the office while texting on him phone. I literally felt my eyes come out of my skull. I pull away from Alfred, step of the little pedal stool and make my way towards my dad.

"What the fuck dad!? You knew?" I say as i cover his phone with my hand, making him look at me,

"Yes, you made it very obvious throughout the years you both have been friends." he chuckled and rolled his eyes, "Oh, don't give me that look, you pined over her every time she was over and her name was constantly coming out of your mouth. I was quite devastated when she stopped coming around."

My mouth was hanging as I stared at my dad when my mom spoke up, "Vincent close your mouth, that's inappropriate."

"Mr. Hawkins, your limo has arrived as well as your party," Alfred announced out loud.

Jarrod, Jocelyn, David and Lauren came walking through the door laughing and Yasmine was straggling behind. She didn't seem like she wanted to be around my friends.

David came in this all black suite, with suede collars, and a black tshirt. His black suit pants was being held up by a black Louis Vuitton belt and Louis Vuitton shoes. Lauren was wearing a golden dress that had a small tail and half her hair was pulled back to the side.

Jarrod and Jocelyn came in matching colors. Although Jocelyn is pregnant, she was able to slightly cover is with a puffy purple dress and purple heels and Jarrod matched as he sported a purple vest with a  black and white suite, and black shoes.

"Oh my, look at how gorgeous you all look," my mom hugged Lauren then Jocelyn and paused at Yasmine, "and who are you?"

"I'm Yasmine. I am your son's prom date."

I hid my laugh with a cough because Yasmine was dressed in a short ass, golden, mini dress that was so tight, we all could tell she had trouble walking in it.

My mom huffed and turned away from her and focused on the boys now. She hugged them and kissed their cheeks; my dad joined her and greeted everyone including Yasmine.

The professional photographer my mom hired took group pictures of us. Yes, my mom had Yasmine step out of a few of them, seeing as she really isn't apart of this family.

After the pictures, everyone headed out the door to the limo when my dad called me back,

"Son, you can find love anywhere but you only fine true love once," with that he let me join my friends but not without handing me a rose, "you know who this belongs to."
