I glanced at my phone to see a reminder about the girls school.

The girls have been in school for a few months and they love it! They come home every day talking about something awesome that happened in their class that day.

I loved seeing smiles on their faces and I would like to officially meet the women who have accomplished that; but unfortunately I have to be present for this important business transaction.

Today was parent teacher conference and I was currently sitting in a very important meeting with some very rich men that I couldn't miss. So in my place, I asked Amanda to go and update me on how the girls are doing in school and to inform me of her teachers. She had agreed and was currently on her way there now with the girls.

It has been 15 minutes and I was getting a bit antsy,

I stood up from my chair, "I'm sorry to interrupt gentlemen but I have to make a very important phone call."

They all nodded and I made my way out of the room. I rounded the corner but stayed close so I can peak in from time to time.

Dialing Amanda's number and waiting for her to pick up the phone. When I heard the phone click, I spoke deeply to her, "Amanda have you arrived?"

"Yes, Mr. Hawkins," her voice was a shaky and I do regret making her scared of me but I have to keep this professional... for the girls sake,

"I am here now with their teachers, Sir,"

"Great. Now they have two teachers as I read in their syllabus but it doesn't show me their first names. Put me on speaker that way they can introduce themselves and I can inform them of who I am," I peaked into the meeting room and noticed that everything was still going smoothly. I don't mention that my girls kept talking about someone named Beth and I'm really curious if it's the same Beth that I'm still pinning for.

"Yes sir," I heard her rustle with her phone before she said, "you are on speaker sir."

"Good morning ladies," My business tone flowed through the phone,

"Hello, Mr. Hawkins," I heard a preppy, cheery voice over the phone,

"May I know who I am speaking with? Amanda has told me that my girls have two teachers and the syllabus only lists your last name, am I correct?"

"Yes, Mr. Hawkins," the first woman spoke, "My name is Deborah Smith and I am the Assistant Kindergarten teacher."

"Pleasure to meet you Ms. Smith," I heard the generosity in his voice, "And the head teacher?"

I held my breath as I listened to the soft voice respond over the phone, "Good morning Mr. Hawkins, my name is Bethany Knight and I am the head kindergarten teacher."

It has been 5 years since I heard her voice and it hasn't changed a bit. Her voice was just as soft and smooth as I remembered. I could tell she was nervous because when she spoke her voice wavered a bit. Every good memory that we shared together passed through my mind like a time lapse movie. I was confused as to where she has been the last 5 years.

I didn't realize I had gone quite until I heard Ms. Smith's voice, "Um, Mr. Hawkins? Are you still there?"

"Uh yeah," I cleared my throat, "It was nice meeting their teachers but I have a meeting to return to. Amanda take me off of speaker!" Amanda was assigned to do background screenings on the girls teachers but she has failed to do so. Now I know I shouldn't but the full blame on her but knowing that Bethany was back and that she is the one teaching my daughters has surprised me, and I don't like surprises!

"Amanda you had one job and that was to do research on the girls teachers and you failed! You are well aware that I do not like SURPRISES!" My voice jumped a bit and I realized I had to calm down, "listen, from this moment on, you are officially relieved from your duties as caretaker for the girls! You are to never see the girls again or interact with them in any way, Do you understand?"

"Yes, Sir," I heard the defeat in her voice, "I understand sir."

Amanda was the best caretaker I could find for the girls when they were little and she has been with us for almost 4 years but when you fail at one thing then you will fail at others.

After hanging up the phone my whole body sagged against the wall.

She's back.
