There were no more shudders of explosions. My breathing was raspy and heavy with adrenalin and fear.

"Daniel," my voice pierced through the night.

I turned toward the side of the wasted house. A commotion was coming from that direction.

My legs broke out into a run. Everything in my body was telling me to run the other way, but I ignored my instincts and pushed forward.

Behind the house, there was a huge clearing and at the edge was the continuation of the monsterous trees. But what really caught my eye was the giant, demonic creature tat towered over Daniel who was weaponless.

Neither of hem noticed me yet, and the creature rose to its full height of about thirteen feet tall- seven feet higher than Daniel. The creature roared and shook the earth. It curled its long, snakish neck back and prepared to lunge, its claws already outstretched.

I panicked and quickly looked around at the ground to find something- anything- to throw at the demon. Finding a rock the size of a baseball, I chucked it at the creature and it landed just above its yellow reptilian eye.

It stumbled back, surprised, and dark blodd began to ooze its way down from the gash. It snarled as the liquid stung its eye.

"Eona!" Daniel yelled. "Get out of here! Now!"

But it was too late. The creature abandoned its opponent and made its way toward me.

"Run, Eona! RUN!"

I ran.

My arms pumped frantically at my sides and air rasped through my mouth unevenly. I dared not to look back, but I could hear the footsteps stumbling closer.

My foot snagged on an upturned root and I fell hard to the ground. Both of my hands instinctively shot out and they got badly scraped. The creature's shadow loomed before me and I quickly rolled to my back and stared up at the monster. The corners of his sliced mouth were dripping with saliva and puss. Both of its eyes were trained directly on me. His razor sharp teeth prepped to sink into my flesh.

I knew I was going to die, so I closed my eyes and thought of my parents and Daniel.
