"Hello, Eona." Levy said in her sing-song voice. "I'm not surprised to see you here."
My mouth hung open in shock. I hadn't seen Levy in what seemed like two weeks. But it had only been a couple of days. Now levy was standing before me and looking at me as if I was a new kind of species.
"What are you doing here?" I asked.
Daniel didn't turn around when I spoke, but I saw his shoulders rise with tension.
"Oh, you know," Levy answered as she began to casually stroll around the room. "Just looking out for my best friend."
"Best friend?" I frowned. "What kind of 'best friend's are you?"
Levy laughed loudly in the small space, and her voice echoed off the walls. Then she abruptly stopped at looked directly at Daniel. "I think your boy-toy over there knows." She said. "He seems to know about everything these days, doesn't he?"
"Is this really happening again, Daniel? More secrets?" I pressed, but he didn't answer. "Daniel?"
"Give him a moment." Levy crossed her arms in pride. "I'm sure he'll get it any second now."
Daniel sucked in a breath a moment later and stood a little taller. "How is this possible?" He mumbled to himself.
Levy gave him a round of applause, and I filled with confusion. "What?"
Daniel spoke to me, but kept his eyes on Levy. "It's her," He said, "The witch that made us all immortal."
I gasped and looked over at my old friend. "No," I muttered in denial. "I've known her all my life!"
Daniel shook his head and glanced back at me. "I'm sorry, Eona."
Levy froze and stopped walking. Her head turned to use and her eyes suddenly glowed a bright orange. A wide sharp smiled formed on her face."I don't think so." She said in a different voice that was old and raspy. "I'm afraid she comes with me."
She approached me, but Daniel shot his arm in front of me as a blockade. "Eona." He urged, and I nodded. Time and time again, he's told me to run, but I didn't need to hear it anymore.
I decided to actually listen, but as I decided to run, something wrapped around my ankle. I dived for the ground as I was thrown off balance.
I caught my breath as I turned to look down at my ankle, but nothing was there. Nothing visible, anyway. But something definitely was.
I looked up to see Daniel and Levy circling each other. Each of them anticipating each others years of skill. A quick, dark glimpse from Daniel sent a chill down my spine. I needed to go.
I tried to tug my ankle free from its invisible bond but with no avail. Shrieking in protest, I screamed, "Something is around my ankle!"
"Let her go," I heard him growl.
Levy cruelty chuckled. "Make me."
She struck high with her left foot and aimed for the chest. Luckily, Daniel dodged at the last moment and Levy was momentarily off balance as her foot uneasily traveled for a landing.
Daniel came back with a downward roundhouses kick that hit right above Levy's shoulder blades. She collapsed to the floor but stood up as quickly as she fell down, ready for another round in a matter of two seconds.
I kept trying to struggle free, but there was no use. When I would feel the bond slip a little, I'd pull as hard as I could and it would tighten even more. So much more that I could feel my own heart beat in my foot.
I reached down to my ankle, but hy hands were suddenly concealed in an iron grip. I screamed in pain as the invisible force tightened and tightened and tightened until I was sure it was going to cut my hands off.
"Daniel!" I shrieked with tears sterning down my cheeks.
He turned at the sound of my voice and his face contorted to something painful and hard to watch.
"Look out!" I warned as Levy came from behind and kicked his back forcefully, knocking the air out of his system and sending him to the ground. He winced, groaning in pain and curling. I watched as she glared down evolution with her bright orange eye. She raised her hand, and a shimmer formed out of thin air creating a dagger in her right hand.
I tried with all my might to pry my hands free, but nothing worked. A desperate cry escaped my mouth. "Levy!" I screamed. "Levy, please stop!"
"Oh, but I cannot stop." She stated. "I can never stop, Eona." Then she raise the dagger high above her head and let out a terrifying screach that made my ears ring painfully.
She came down, but not toward Daniel...
I breathed heavily and watched as Levy's bright orange eyes burned, and she ell to the ground next to Daniel. He warily got to his feet in shock and looked down at Levy. He then glanced up, and out from the shadows emerged Leon.
"God damnit!" He exclaimed. "How did you find us?"
Leon ignored Daniel and looked at me before he quickly walked to Levy. But before he could unsheathe his knife, Levy jumped to her feet and pulled the arrow out of her back. She then leaped out of the glass window, having it shatter into a million pieces.
My breathing became more rugged and forced. I could feet my blood pounding in my hands and foot. All the blood stuck there, not circulating through the rest of my body.
My eyes began to roll back, and Daniel notice me. "Crap!"
I heard his footsteps come near, and then I felt his hands wrap around me. A few seconds later, the bode around my ankle aand both of my hands released and I slumped against Daniel in exhaustion.
"You're safe now," He whispered. "Safe."
My eyes drooped, and fatigue spread throughout my entire body. Tears still ran down my face, and J felt Daniel gently brush them away. Through my blurry vision, I saw Daniel's sorry excuse of a mowhalk drape over his royal blue eyes.
I could help but smile. "Beautiful," I mumbled, drifting off into nothing.
