With an intense headache throbbing in my forehead I was brought into consciousness except that I could not open my eyes. Pain. I feel pain everywhere on my body.

Where am I?

"Think you got enough?" Steve asks.

Is that..Steve? Steve is alive. Wait. Dr. Erskine! The explosion!

"The secret of the serum is locked genetically in your blood. Any hopes of reproducing it is massively small." Agent Carter says.

Oh so she is here as well. What's happening?

I try hard to open my eyes but I couldn't. The pain is overwhelming.

I groan in pain as I try to move my posture. "Ugh.."

Immediately Steve runs to my side and cautiously holds my hands. "Hey, Teresa. How do you feel?"

"Ouch." Faintly I express my pain as I continue to move towards the right side where Steve stood by me.

"I know. You got pretty hurt badly." Steve apologizes guiltily.

"Dr.Erskine?" I ask with a dry throat.

Steve looks down, unable to meet my eyes, "I am so sorry Teresa."

So what I saw was true. I thought to myself.

"He deserved so much more." Steve says softly.

Dr.Erskine was one of the closest people I've had. He was family. And I lost him. I couldn't protect him.

But seeing Steve feeling guilty breaks my heart too.

"No Steve. If it could work only once, he'd be proud it was you. None of this is your fault." I try to console him knowing that he would be shouldering this guilt.

He squeezes my hand and looks at me thinking something.

Agent Carter clears her throat breaking the moment and excuses herself.

"Was the killer caught?" I asked.

Steve looks down again with dismay, "No. I ran after him. But he killed himself before I could
question him. If only I could have done better."

I held his hands, "Look at me Steve."

His eyes met mine and I noticed sadness and anger. "We will find the person responsible for it."

Howard walks in and stands beside the bed that I was laying on.

Seeing him, I try to get up but wince in pain as I feel my cuts burning.

"Hey sweetie, just lay down. I am glad you are alive." He kisses my hand and takes a deep sigh with his eyes closed.

"You won't be getting rid of me so soon, brother. I still have to get you a girl." I joked.

Steve, my brother and I burst into laughter.

"I am preparing a ride for you to go home." My brother says.
